    • PHILADELPHIA -- From snipers to defencemen, the Boston Bruins are getting plenty of scoring. Wholesale Shoes China . Jarome Iginla and Zdeno Chara each had two goals, Tuukka Rask made 25 saves and the Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 6-1 Saturday. Reilly Smith and Patrice Bergeron also had goals for the Bruins. The defending Eastern Conference champions are 3-0-1 since losing five of eight, and trail only Pittsburgh in the conference. "The more you can spread around the scoring, the tougher you are to defend," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "Its important to have. We like the fact that we are well-balanced and our scoring is spread around." Chara became the eighth Bruins player to reach double-digits in goals when he scored in the first period to make it 1-0. He also capped the scoring with another power-play goal. "I think its important we have a lot of contributions," Iginla said. "When you get in tight games, we feel we have a lot of guys who can find goals. You want a lot of different guys who can score and a lot of guys are feeling it." Claude Giroux scored a power-play goal for the slumping Flyers, whove lost four in a row. Theyre 2-5-2 in their last nine games, tumbling from second place in the division to eighth in the East. Its their worst stretch since a 1-7 start that saw coach Peter Laviolette fired three games into the season. "We need to be a consistent team and thats what we strive to be," coach Craig Berube said. "If you want to be a good team, a playoff team, a team that does something in the playoffs, you have to be consistent. You lose a few games and youre fragile. Thats what I see. But we can correct that and go in the right direction. Were a good team. Its a confidence thing for us." Steve Mason allowed four goals on 19 shots and was yanked for the second time in three starts since signing a contract extension last Saturday. The Bruins took a 1-0 lead on Charas first power-play goal in the first period. After Sean Couturier failed on a clearing attempt, David Krejci swung the puck around down low. Iginla passed it to Chara, who flipped a shot from a side angle that bounced off defenceman Braydon Coburns skate and went in. Iginla fired a slap shot from the right circle past Mason to make it 2-0 just 17 seconds before the first intermission. A turnover by defenceman Nicklas Grossmann led to Bostons third goal. Smith stepped around Grossmann and swiped at the puck, which hit the post, hit Mason and went in. "Teams cant just rely on shutting down one line when you have a lot of guys scoring," Smith said. "It stifles the defence and changes the game." Rask kept it 3-0 with his toughest save, a sliding glove stab going right to left to rob Jakub Voracek on a one-timer. Bergeron made it 4-0 minutes later, sending Mason to the bench. Giroux and Iginla traded power-play goals in the third. "We have to get better," Giroux said. "Were going away from how we want to be as a team and how we were winning games." NOTES: Rask earned his career-high 23rd win. ... Iginlas first goal was his first since Jan. 2, snapping an eight-game drought. ... Flyers D Andrej Meszaros was a healthy scratch despite his recent offensive production. RW Steve Downie also was benched. ... The Bruins are 43-35-12 in Philadelphia. Theyre the only team with a winning record on the road vs. the Flyers. Discount Shoes Online .J. -- After getting permission from his 7-year-old daughter, New York Giants offensive lineman David Diehl has retired after an 11-year career that included two Super Bowl championships. Wholesale Shoes Suppliers . The Kyiv-born Baltacha, who represented Britain at the 2012 London Olympics, was diagnosed with the illness in January, two months after retiring from tennis and only weeks after she married her long-time coach Nino Severino.BERLIN -- Nuremberg and Eintracht Braunschweig were relegated on the final day of the Bundesliga season Saturday, while Bayer Leverkusen clinched the last Champions League qualification place. Leverkusen came from behind to beat Werder Bremen 2-1 and secure fourth place immediately above Wolfsburg, which beat sixth-placed Borussia Moenchengladbach 3-1. "We knew we had to win," Leverkusen striker Eren Derdiyok said. Hamburger SV got the relegation playoff place despite losing 3-2 at Mainz, which secured Europa League football next season by finishing seventh. Mainz general manager Christian Heidel said after the game that Thomas Tuchel wanted to resign after five years in charge. "He has a contract until 2015. We dont want to rescind the contract," Heidel said. Media reports were linking Tuchel with Schalke. Neither Nuremberg nor Braunschweig could capitalize on Hamburgs loss. Nuremberg lost 4-1 at Schalke and Braunschweig stayed bottom after a 3-1 loss at Hoffenheim. It was a Bundesliga record eighth relegation for Nuremberg, while Braunschweig returns to the second division one season after securing promotion. "When you look back over 34 games we simply didnt get enough points, thats a fact," Braunschweig midfielder Mirko Boland said. Hamburg, the only side to have played every Bundesliga season since the league was formed in 1963, now faces home and away games against the third-placed finisher in the second division for a place in the top flight next season. "On Thursday at home we have to win," Hamburg coach Mirko Slomka said of the first leg. Hamburg completed its worst ever league campaign, with 75 goals conceded, more than any other side. "We still have a chance and well give everything we can," Hamburg midfielder Rafael van der Vaart said. Robert Lewandowski scored twice in his last game for Borussia Dortmund, a 4-0 win at Hertha Berlin, to finish as the leagues top scorer with 20 goals. The Polish striker opened the scoring in the 41st and Milos Jojic curled a fine effort from the right of the penalty area inside the far post three minutes later. Lewandowski, who is joining Bayern Munich next season, scored with a brilliant free kick in the 80th, two minutes before Henrikh Mkhitaryan completed the goals. Already crowned champion Bayern left it late to beat Stuttgart 1-0 and get its title celebrations underway. Claudio Pizarro scored two minutes into injury time for Bayern to finish the leeague on a high. Cheap Shoes Online. It was the Peru strikers fifth goal in four games. Pep Guardiolas side had clinched the title with a record seven games to spare and the former Barcelona coach was doused in beer by jubilant players as he held aloft the championship shield. He also dropped it. "It was cold," Guardiola said of his first beer shower. "Its all OK now after having a proper shower. Im happy." Stuttgart coach Huub Stevens, who saved his side from relegation, stepped down after the game. "Im not staying with Stuttgart. The reasons are personal. It has nothing to do with Stuttgart, nothing to do with the players. It only has to do with me," the Dutchman said without elaborating. Also Saturday, Augsburg defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 and Hannover beat Freiburg 3-2. Hannover honoured captain Steve Cherundolo before kickoff for his service to the club he joined in 1999. The San Diego native, who made 87 appearances for the United States, is retiring because of persistent knee injuries. Schalke safeguarded third place to secure direct qualification for the Champions League next season. It started badly for Nuremberg when Joel Matip scored with a header from a corner in the sixth minute. Roman Neustaedter made it 2-0 before the break, Julian Draxler scored in the 75th, and Chinedu Obasi added another in the 90th. Nuremberg striker Josip Drmic scored his sides consolation in injury time. Leverkusen provisionally lost fourth place to Wolfsburg after Theodor Gebre Selassie fired Bremen ahead in the 21st and Kevin de Bruyne put Wolfsburg 1-0 up against Gladbach in the 30th. Leverkusen defender Omer Toprak equalized with a fine header in the 34th and Heung-min Son put his side back in fourth place by scoring in the 53rd for a 2-1 victory. "Of course theres a bit of sadness after such a last game after six intensive weeks," said Leverkusen interim coach Sascha Lewandowski, who is making way for Roger Schmidt. Schmidt guided Red Bull Salzburg to the Austrian championship this season. In Wolfsburg, Christoph Kramer equalized for Gladbach in the 64th, before Ivan Perisic and Robin Knoche responded in the 68th and 81st respectively as the hosts won 3-1. Perisic struck the crossbar in the first half, and then the post, crossbar and the other post with one shot in the second. • The Montreal Canadiens will try to get back in the Eastern Conference Final series with the New York Rangers when the two collide in Game 3 at Madison Square Garden this evening. Discount Air Jordan 1 . Listen to the game live on TSN Radio 690 at 8pm et/5pm pt and watch live coverage of the post-game news conferences on TSN.ca. The Canadiens, who are without the services of No. 1 goaltender Carey Price, will have 24-year-old Dustin Tokarski between the pipes again tonight with Peter Budaj serving as the backup. Tokarski performed admirably in his postseason debut on Monday, but it wasnt enough to prevent Montreal from falling behind two games to none. Henrik Lundqvist outdueled the Canadiens netminder, making 40 saves to anchor New York to its fifth consecutive victory. Tokarski, who had played in three games earlier in the season, allowed all three goals on 30 shots in his first taste of NHL playoff action. "We looked at his record. Tokarski is a winner and we know that from his past record. I thought he played very well tonight," said Montreal head coach Michel Therrien. "I liked our team effort, which was great tonight. We were engaged. But the reason we lost tonight was Lundqvist, he stole the game tonight. We had lots of chances to score but Lundqvist made key saves." Tokarski became the first goaltender to make his playoff debut in the Conference Final or later since the NHL expanded to a four-round postseason format in 1975. Price is out for the remainder of the Conference Final due to a lower-body injury suffered in Game 1. Forward Thomas Vanek, who has no points, one shot and a minus-3 rating, took turns skating on the fourth line during practice Wednesday. Therrien told reporters not to read into it, as it all could change again ahead of Game 3. Max Pacioretty scored for Montreal at 6:14 of the first period, but McDonagh answered with his tally just 17 seconds later. The Canadiens put a ton of pressure on New York in the opening 20 minutes, but Lundqvist stopped 13-of-14 shots in the period and Nash would score late in the stanza to give the Rangers the lead for good. "Hes the only reason we were still in the game because they had tremendous push," said New York head coach Alain Vigneault about Lundqvist. Montreal was 0-for-4 on the man advantage and has failed to score over seven chances in the first two games. The Rangers went 1-for-3 on the power play and are 4-for-10 in the series. "We had a number of opportunities to put ourselves in a good position, but they were optimistic and capitalized on their opportunities," said Habs defenseman P.K. Subban. "The difference is, we didnt. Were getting pucks to the net, but not getting the bounces right now. We have to stick with it, because sooner or later the pucks will go in for us." New York played without forward Derick Brassard, who suffered an injury early in Game 1 and was replaced in the lineup by Daniel Carcillo on Monday. He skated Wednesday and Vigneault  said hes is day-to-day. "It was good to get back out there with my teammates," Brassard said Wednesday. "I havent talked to the medical staff, well see whats going to happen." Vigneault also said winger Benoit Pouliot "is good" for tonight after taking a maintenance day on Wednesday. New York is 10-2 all-time when winning the first two games of a seven-game playoff series, including a 4-1 mark when claiming the first two tests on the road. New York is 5-0 since falling behind 3-1 in its semifinal set against Pittsburgh. Mondays win improved the Rangers to 6-3 on the road in these playoffs, marking the first time the Blueshirts have won six away games in one postseason since they last won the Stanley Cup in 1994. The Rangers, however, are just 4-3 on home ice in the playoffs. The Habs are 4-2 as the guest. Tonights tilt is the first of two straight at the Garden, as the clubs are set to meet Sunday in Manhattan for Game 4. Ryan McDonagh posted a goal and an assist in Mondays win, while Martin St. Louis and Rick Nash also scored for the Rangers. Derek Stepan added two assists in the victory. McDonagh has six points (2G, 4A) in the first two games of this series. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, McDonagh is the first Rangers defenseman to record six points in a two-game span in the postseason since Brian Leetch in 1995. Leetch registered three points in consecutive games in New Yorks opening round series against the Quebec Nordiques in 1995. "Not everyone plays consistently at the level you want, and I can say the same thing about me," said McDonagh. "But other guys stepped up and its a good thing to win both games here. You focus on one game at a time, but weve really been ready to push ourselves to consistently to put us in this manner and give ourselves a chance in every game." This is the first postseason encounter between these Original Six rivals since the opening round of the 1996 playoffs when New York won in six games. The clubs have split 14 previous playoff series, but the Rangers have now won six straight postseason games against Montreal, becoming just the fourth team in NHL history to take six playoff tilts in a row versus the storied Canadiens franchise. Both teams are attempting to get back to the Cup Final for the first time since the 1990s. Montreal was the last team based in Canada to win it all in 1993, but has yet to return to the Cup Final, and the Rangers are aiming to get back to the final stage for the first time since 1994. Air Jordan 1 Shoes China . Noah finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists in 34 minutes. He was headed for his fourth triple-double of the season, but sat down with about three minutes left because of the lopsided score. The 26-year-old Sobotka injured his left leg playing for the St. Louis Blues in a 3-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday. Ford has been Eddie Jones first-choice fly-half for his six Tests as head coach, but the 23-year-old performed poorly with the boot during Englands 27-13 win over Wales, missing six of his seven attempts at goal. The Bath No 10 faced booing and ironic cheers from the Twickenham crowd when he managed to convert Jack Cliffords try just after half-time, resulting in calls for him to be replaced by Owen Farrell.Jones has used Farrell at inside centre and Greenwood believes the Australian will remain loyal to the side that secured Englands first Grand Slam title since 2003.I think George Ford will still be in pole position in terms of Eddie Jones, Greenwood told Sky Sports News HQ.I am a big fan of George Ford, the crowd of course will look to his kicking stats - but dont worry about them. Farrell will step up and nail five out of six, but Jones is trying to find that balance and fluidity to his backline that is not quite there. Luther Burrell is getting back to his best Although they scored five tries against Wales, it was a bit clunky and needs a bit of WD40.  If Jones does not go with Ford, then he will have Farrell at No 10 and move Luther Burrell straight into the inside centre slot. But I dont envisage many changes - Jones is not afraid of pulling rabbits out of hats but he is enormously loyal to the players who do him proud and pull off the big wins. Englands new coach Glen Ella is impressed with the team as they prepare for the tour of Australia You suspect that the team that won the Grand Slam in Paris may just get first dibs in Brisbane against those pesky Australians.Confidence boostGreenwood believes England will be the most confident side out of the three home nations heading to the southern hemisphere this summer with Wales travelling to New Zealand and Ireland to South Africa. Its a massive Saturday for most of the home nations sides, said Greenwood.First up we will be in Auckland - I will have Sean Fitzpatrick on one side and Scott Quinnell on the other and Wales will be trying to do something that they have never ever done before -  which is win in new Zealand. Wales have only beaten New Zealand once and that was way bback in 1953. Air Jordan 1 OG Outlet. .Straight after that, we head over to Brisbane where we could see another first. England may have won in Australia before but never in Brisbane - their record is played four and lost four. Then in the afternoon, Ireland take on South Africa.Go back five or six months to the World Cup where New Zealand won it, Australia came second and South Africa came third so it is an enormous challenge. In the meantime, they have had a long break while the home nations have fought and scrapped amongst themselves to be top dog. England came out on top and are Grand Slam champions but the acid test, the barometer of how far all these sides have come comes on Saturday. He added: England are probably the most confident of all three heading to Australia.Wallaby coach Michael Cheika has not called upon the likes of Matt Giteau, Dre Mitchell, Matt Toomua and Adam Ashley Cooper. So four to five of their World Cup final back-line are not available.I would not say that an unbeaten England under Eddie Jones tenure will be over confident, but they will be confident starting the series well at an amazing stadium.Building momentum Highlights of Englands 27-13 win over Wales at Twickenham Jones has admitted Englands hopes of completing a series victory over Australia hinge on the outcome of that first Test at the Suncorp Stadium, and Greenwood agrees. If you go 1-0 down, you can still come back and win the series but its like Andy Murray going down to Novak Djokovic at the French Open - once you go down two sets to one, then you know you have to win the next two against a guy who hardly loses one set, never mind two.Australia very rarely lose two Tests on the spin at home so if you lose the first Test, then you are snookered a fraction. If you get off to a good start, then you are in good shape to go on and nail the series. It should be a cracking series and a good chance to see if the gaping chasm between the southern hemisphere and northern hemisphere has got bigger, or are we a little bit closer.Watch New Zealand v Wales, 8am, Sat, Sky Sports 1 HD followed by Australia v England, 11am, Sat, Sky Sports 1 HD  and South Africa v Ireland 3.30pm, Sat, Sky Sports 1 HD. Catch the Tests for £6.99 with a NOW TV day pass. • LOS ANGELES -- Cliff Lee gave the Dodgers a good lesson in what has made him a dominant pitcher: masterful control. Paul Krause Jersey . Lee scattered four hits over eight innings, struck out 10 and retired 21 of his last 22 batters to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 7-0 victory. The 2008 AL Cy Young Award winner has 38 strikeouts and two walks through his first five starts, after leading the majors in strikeout to-walk ratio and fewest walks per nine innings during each of the previous two seasons. "Thats definitely something I take pride in," Lee said. "I really focus a lot on working ahead in the count and trying to make them earn their way on base. Ive made a conscious effort over the past few years to make that one of my priorities and its going to continue to be that way." It was the fifth time Lee has had at least 10 Ks against the Dodgers and, this time, a number of their hitters were griping about umpire Hunter Wendelstedts strike zone. "Its a good thing for me when theyre complaining about called strikes. I dont see how that can be a bad thing for me," Lee said. "I know they did complain a lot on a lot of called, and thats fine with me." Carlos Ruiz hit a two-run homer and a two-run double and Ryan Howard also went deep in the opener of a four-game series against the defending NL West champions. Lee (3-2) had at least one strikeout in every inning he pitched and did not walk a batter, giving way to Jeff Manship after 113 pitches. Left-hander Paul Maholm (0-2) gave up five runs and eight hits over five innings and committed a throwing error in the fifth that gave the Phillies an unearned run. "It was frustrating just going through a long first inning, battling, not having your stuff, and doing everything possible to get deep into the game," Maholm said. "The bullpen needed a rest and unfortunately I didnt give it to them." Maholm used 29 of his 107 pitches to get out of the first after a leadoff walk to Tony Gwynn Jr. Jimmy Rollins followed with a bloop single to right-centre. Matt Kemp slowed up on the catchable ball when he saw right fielder Yasiel Puig coming hard. Both runners scored on Ruizs double into the right field corner. "That was huge. An early lead is definitely good for the pitcher," Lee said. Puig tried to get one of the runs back in the bottom of the inning, but ran into an out trying to score from second on an infield hit up the middle by Adrian Gonzalez that extended his hitting streak to 16 games. Second baseman Chase Utley fielded the ball behind the bag and looked straight at Puig, who ended up in a rundown. Catcher Ruiz took the throw and chased Puig back to third before making a lunging tag for the third out with Kemp on deck. "Thats definitely advanced. That just shows that hes one step ahead of the game and a prime example of what kind of player he is," Lee said. "Maybe he could have gotten the guy at first, but he had a pretty good idea of how Puig was going to be running the bases -- and he was dead-on. He was aggressively rounding third and he was going to go all the way home. But Chase anticipated that and got him out." The Dodgers got only one more hit over the next 6 2-3 innings -- a leadoff single in the second by Kemp, who entered 1 for 15 against Lee with nine strikeouts. Lee retired the next 20 batters before Tim Federowicz singled with two out in the eighth. The Phillies made it 5-0 with a three-run fifth. Howard hit his fifth of the season one pitch after a two-out walk to Ruiz. John Mayberry Jr. singled and scored when Maholm threw the ball over Gonzalezs head at first base after fielding a tapper to the right of the mound by Freddy Galvis. NOTES: The Dodgers dedicated their training room and named it in honour of Dr. Frank Jobe, the teams longtime physician who died March 6 at age 88. On hand for the pregame ceremony was Tommy John, whose career was extended 14 years by Jobe with the elbow ligament-replacement surgery he developed and has become commonplace in baseball. ... Clayton Kershaw came out of Sundays simulated game without incident and will throw a bullpen session Tuesday as a prelude to a possible minor league rehab start later in the week. ... The Dodgers have committed 21 errors through their first 20 games. Ameer Abdullah Jersey . In an interview with La Presse this week, the five-time Stanley Cup champion and three-time NHL scoring leader specifically took aim at wingers Thomas Vanek and Max Pacioretty, saying they cant show up in a 7-4 win over the New York Rangers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final and come up empty in Game 6. Brian ONeill Jersey . Correia pitched six innings of one-run ball, Eduardo Escobar homered, and the Minnesota Twins pulled away late to beat the Colorado Rockies 9-3 on Saturday. With the Red Sox falling out of the race and the Blue Jays heating up, it appears Jon Lester could be at the centre of a deal between the two AL East rivals. Appearing on TSN 1050 on Tuesday, Sean McAdam of Comcast SportsNet New England reported that the Blue Jays, along with a number of other playoff contenders were in the mix for the Boston ace. “The Blue Jays have been extremely aggressive over the last few days,” McAdam told TSN 1050. “This is not tire kicking, the Blue Jays are very much interested in Jon Lester.” The 30-year-old lefthander has been dominant this season posting a 10-7 record with a 2.52 ERA despite pitching for a Red Sox team that dropped to 10 games under .500 following aa 14-1 loss to Toronto on Monday. Adrian Peterson Jersey. Despite reports that the Blue Jays would not be willing to take on any money, and Lester due a total of $13 million before he hits free agency this winter, McAdam speculated the Jays could still be a player if the Red Sox would be willing to take back some money in a deal – similar to what they reportedly did in acquiring two prospects from the San Francisco Giants for Jake Peavy. Still, the unwillingness of Torontos ownership to spend could hurt them, with big money teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers thought to also be in the mix. “It would probably put the Jays at a disadvantage,” McAdam said. • BROSSARD, Que. Air Jordan Store On Sale . — It will be hard to overlook the head-to-head battle between the likely top two picks in the NHL draft when Canada faces the United States at the world junior championship. Debate has raged for at least two years on whether Canadas Connor McDavid or American Jack Eichel will go first at the 2015 draft in June. But before that is settled, the gifted teenagers will face each other in a showdown for first place in their preliminary round group at the Bell Centre on Wednesday afternoon. You can catch all of the action LIVE on TSN1, TSN4, TSN5 and TSN GO or listen live on the TSN Radio Network with coverage beginning at 3:30pm et/12:30pm pt. While both insist the game is about the teams and not themselves, many fans in the seats and viewers on television will be comparing the play of two of the best junior prospects to emerge in recent years. Its there a little bit, McDavid said Tuesday of the Connor versus Jack sideshow. Its been something thats been there for a long time now, but at the end of the day, its the U.S. against Canada. Its not me against anybody else. Eichel agreed. Its not all about me versus Connor, its a huge matchup for the top seed in our bracket, he said. Eichel, who turned 18 on Oct. 28, was named captain of the American squad despite his youth, while Canada made McDavid, who turns 18 on Jan. 13, an alternate to captain Curtis Lazar. It is rare for a so-called underage player at the mostly 19-year-old tournament to wear any letter at all, but these two are special talents. Both are great skaters. Both have sublime hands and playmaking ability. Both pile up points, although neither has had a breakout game at the world juniors yet. After three games each, McDavid has a goal and two assists, all collected during a 4-0 win over Germany. Eichel has a goal and a helper. In the Ontario Hockey League, the 6-foot-1, 187-pound McDavid has 16 goals and 51 points in only 18 games for the Erie Otters. Before the world juniors, he hadnt played since Nov. 11 after breaking his right hand in a fight. The 6-foot-2, 193-pound Eichel has eight goals and 27 points in 16 games for Boston University playing against slightly older competition in the NCAA. Now they are set to play against each other with a host of NHL scouts and a national TV audience watching every move. You always want to be a difference maker, whatever game it is, said the soft-spoken McDavid. Obviously its a bigger stage, but that doesnt make a difference. Both coaches, Benoit Groulx for Canada and Mark Osiecki for the U.S., praised their young phenoms for not getting too caught up in the hype about themselves and for putting their teams performance first. Although McDavid and Eichel have never really met off the ice, theyve faced each other before at under-17 and under-18 events. They also both played at last years world junior championship in Malmo, Sweden, although neither was in a leading role at that point in their development. Its exciting, but its more exciting just to be at this tournament in general, said Eichel. Its been a lot of fun so far and Im sure itll be a blast. Canada and the U.S. have built a rivalry in recent years that will add intensity to the matchup. And regardless of who wins, they could end up meeting again in the knockout stage. For us, its Canada versus the U.S., not Connor versus Eichel, said Groulx. Those are two guys among 44 players who will play against each other. I cant answer for him, but I think a lot of media have been talking about Eichel and McDavid, so I think theyre used to it. But Connor is a team player and he thinks more about us winning than him versus Eichel. Canada (3-0-0 for nine points) has outscored its opponents 16-1 so far, while the U.S. (2-0-1 for eight points) has an 11-1 edge. The Americans lost a point by going to overtime and a shootout in its tournament opening 2-1 win over Finland. Where Canada has an edge is on the power play, which has scored on five of 10 chances. The Americans have one goal in 13 opportunities. Neither team has conceded a power-play goal. Groulx made a surprise move in announcing that Eric Comrie will get the start in goal. Zach Fucale, a Montreal native, started the first and third games, allowing one goal, while Comrie had a 4-0 shutout against Germany. While the choice suggests to some a lack of faith in Fucale, Groulx said he considers them equal and said it has not yet been decided which of them is the number one goaltender. He also said that Vancouver Canucks prospect Jake Virtanen will stick with McDavids line with Curtis Lazar after playing there in the third period of a 4-1 win over Finland on Monday night. That bumps big Nick Ritchie of the Peterborough Petes to the fourth unit. Hes the same type of player as Rich, McDavid said of Virtanen. Hes a big body. He flies out there. Hes a real presence and he has a lot of skills. The game also features two more players slated as top-10 draft picks: fourth-line forward Lawson Crouse for Canada and defenceman Noah Hanifin of the U.S., who many have ranked just behind McDavid and Eichel. Wholesale Jordan Shoes . -- After a year spent travelling the world, Brooks Koepka suddenly is in a position to play a lot more golf at home. Wholesale Jordans Authentic .Y. - Sven Andrighetto scored once and set up two more as the Hamilton Bulldogs hung on to defeat the host Adirondack Flames 5-3 on Tuesday in American Hockey League action.Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - The New Jersey Devils traded forward Krys Barch and a seventh-round pick in 2015 to the Florida Panthers for forward Scott Timmins and a sixth-round pick in 2014. • The Tampa Bay Buccaneers http://www.tennesseetitansteamonline.com/corey-davis-jersey , the other quarterback needy team in the 2015 NFL Draft, selected Jameis Winston first overall in that year’s draft, and since then he and Marcus Mariota have been compared nonstop. Now that Winston is missing the first three games of the season to suspension for groping an Uber driver, Ryan Fitzpatrick will start the first three games of the season. With that in mind, we’re going to do things a little differently today. Instead of previewing one specific player ahead of tomorrow night’s matchup, I’m gonna preview the 2018 Buccaneers as a whole.Jameis Winston has been a fascinating player on the field to say the least. He has the ability to make outstanding plays outside of the structure and is often creative when running out of the pocket. His pocket movement is also really good, and he is capable of great stretches of play, as we saw in the last quarter of the season. He’s also capable of poor stretches of play, however, seen in his inconsistency as a decision making, and as a downfield passer he leaves too many plays on the field (though from my understanding, his downfield accuracy improved in the last 4 games of 2017).The Buccaneers picked up the fifth-year option in Winston’s contract, but when he returns from suspension, he’s going to need to prove that he can stay on the field and be the Buccaneers’ franchise quarterback. His errant accuracy spoils not just his potential, but also the potential of the weapons around him.Tampa Bay arguably has the best receiving corps in the league. Mike Evans is a phenomenal player with fantastic 1 on 1 ball skills. The issue is, along with DeSean Jackson, Winston was constantly missing him last year. Jackson has been one of the league’s premier vertical receivers for a long time, but reports out of Tampa are suggesting that second-year receiver Chris Godwin will take his spot outside by the start of the season. Godwin is an electrifying route runner with great toughness as the catch point, so this isn’t surprising. This makes Adam Humphries’ role an unknown, but he enjoyed a career year in 2017. Then there’s the tight end duo of Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard. Brate has developed into a fantastic receiving tight end while Howard flashed who he could become in his rookie season. In the backfield, Peyton Barber is reportedly the starter. I don’t know much about Barber, other than he has surprisingly really good patience as a runner. Ronald Jones II looks like he could be the future in Tampa http://www.tennesseetitansteamonline.com/kamalei-correa-jersey , though, and Charles Sims is a decent third-down back. The Buccaneers’ vertical heavy passing game isn’t made better by the offensive line. While this isn’t a bottom tier unit, it’s not particularly good either. Left Guard Ali Marpet is certainly a bright spot, and Donavan Smith at left tackle isn’t horrendous, but this unit needs to be better schemed in order to protect longer when the quarterback is required to hold the ball, and that’s been an issue with Dirk Koetter. On the opposite side of the ball, Buccaneers fans have been hyping up the improved defense, but I don’t think it’s anywhere near a top 10 defense. The defensive line was atrocious last year, and did get better with the signings of Jason-Pierre Paul, Vinny Curry and the drafting of Vita Vea, but these guys that work more as depth pieces instead of explosive starters, with Vea likely needing a while to develop. Still, Gerald McCoy remains one of the league’s top defensive tackles, and could very well be on his way to Canton. The secondary isn’t inspiring. Vernon Hargreaves is at his best as a slot corner, but has largely been a disappointment in his first two seasons. Brent Grimes is getting up there in age and isn’t the same player he once was earlier in his career (comes with the age). Justin Evans, a 2nd rounder in 2017, is expected to start in 2018, but Chris Conte should not be starting. I’d also like to see what corners Carlton Davis and MJ Stewart can do in their rookie seasons too.Overall, the offense is loaded with receiver talent and should see a better run game, but I don’t think the defense will be good. And with Winston missing the first three games of the season, Tampa Bay could very well be penciled in for an 0-3 start. That’s not good when you consider the other three NFC South teams have more talented rosters and better quarterbacks. The Buccaneers and Titans play Saturday night at 7 p.m. Central Time. The Titans finalized their initial 53-man roster for the 2018 season yesterday. There weren’t any real shockers, but there were a few mild surprises among the selections. Here are the most surprising keeps and cuts according to me. Surprising KeepsAaron Stinnie http://www.tennesseetitansteamonline.com/ryan-succop-jersey , GI was pretty certain that Stinnie was going to be cut after a really bad showing against the Steelers in the preseason, but the Titans must have liked what they saw from him in practices. The 6’-3”, 312 pound UDFA guard from James Madison fits the athletic profile of a zone blocking guard though, running a 4.65-second short shuttle and a 7.63-second 3-cone during his pro day. Stinnie is a relatively raw prospect who only played two years of high school football and began his college career as a defensive lineman. I thought Tyler Marz was likely to be the 9th offensive lineman kept, but he ended up getting added to the practice squad instead. The Titans must think Stinnie has considerable upside to use a roster spot on him. Cameron Batson, WR/KRBatson is another guy that I don’t think I saw on any 53-man roster projections. Most felt like the 6th wide receiver spot — if the Titans chose to keep 6 — would come down to Nick Williams or Deontay Burnett, but it ended up being the explosive Batson who got the nod. Batson played his college ball at Texas Tech, totaling 1,499 receiving yards over 50 games. He also returned kicks and punts during his Red Raider career. Batson is undersized at 5’-8” tall and 175 pounds, but he makes up for it with his explosiveness. He ran a 4.32-second 40-yard dash at Texas Tech’s pro day which would have tied for the fastest time at the combine if he’d run it there. Batson also posted blistering 3.96-second short shuttle and 6.69-second 3-cone and a 39” vertical. In addition to being a tremendous athlete, he’s also a highly intelligent player, graduating from Tech with honors and majoring in accounting. He’s was a 2017 semi-finalist for the Campbell Award, an honor given to college football’s best scholar-athlete.During the preseason Batson was the Titans primary kick returner, picking up 161 yards on 7 returns. He also added 19 yards on 4 punt returns and 7 catches for 74 yards in the passing game. He repeatedly earned praise from Vrabel for his fearlessness in the return game and, obviously, special teams will be his primary role on the team. My guess is that Batson is the opening day starting kick returner with Adoree’ Jackson handling punts. That’s probably what made him the choice at this spot over a guy like Deontay Burnett too. While he likely won’t get much work as a receiver in 2018, Batson clearly profiles as a slot type player who can offer elite run after catch ability. Something he showed off on the play below. Vrabel was very complimentary of the UDFA receivers that the team brought in right before cut day so that speaks to how much they must like Batson as he was the only one to make the roster.Matt Dickerson, DLDickerson probably qualifies as a surprise, but this is one that I thought was in play. I even had him making it on my second-to-last 53-man roster projection before regrettably leaving him off on my final version. Dickerson is a guy that Jim Wyatt first put on my radar when he mentioned him as one of the UDFAs that stood out to him during OTAs. Dickerson is a great size-weight-speed prospect at 6’-5” and 292 pounds with good movement skills. During preseason, Dickerson flashed consistently as both a run defender and an interior pass rusher. Dickerson figures to get some snaps a small part of the defensive line rotation for the Titans this season as the team only kept 5 at this position. Anthony Firkser, TEIf you read my early training camp practice reports or follow me on Twitter, you know I loved Firkser from day one. I didn’t think the Titans would end up keeping him after an up and down preseason Authentic Jonnu Smith Jersey , but I’m glad to be wrong in this case. Firkser is a 6’-2”, 246 pound move tight end who played his college ball at Harvard. He led the Crimson in receiving yards during his senior season in 2016. After going undrafted in the 2017 draft, he spent time with the Jets and Chiefs at various times last season. During camp, Firkser made play after play in the passing game. He flashed that ability in the preseason game against the Steelers, turning in a 5 catch, 68 yard, 1 touchdown line, including this great grab up the seam. Firkser can contribute on special teams as well which gives him a chance to be active on game days this fall. I can’t wait for NFL announcers to learn that he went to Harvard. Surprising CutsJulius Warmsley, DLThe fact that Warmsley’s omission from the 53-man roster qualifies as a surprise is a testament to the work he put in during camp and preseason. As a 28 year old player who had spent the better part of the last 4 seasons on and off various practice squads Warmsley didn’t profile as a training camp darling coming in, but he ended up as one anyway. He earned some early praise from Vrabel and quickly vaulted ahead of David King on the defensive line rotation, even getting some snaps with the first team defense from time to time. He continued his excellent play throughout the preseason which led many to think he was a borderline lock for the 53-man roster. My read on why Warmsley didn’t make the cut is that the Titans likely felt that the gap between Warmsley and Dickerson was relatively small and Dickerson is 6 years younger, offering higher long term upside. Nick Williams, WRWilliams made some waves early in camp and preseason and looked to be a likely roster candidate as a slot receiver who could contribute on special teams as well. However, like Warmsley, Williams is an older player at 27 years old and a hamstring injury suffered during the Steelers game likely played a role in him getting left off the 53. It’s possible that the Titans wait for Williams to heal and then add him back later in the season. Deontay Burnett, WRThis may be the least popular of all the Titans cuts. Fans loved Burnett, who showed great feel for the game and outstanding hands during preseason action. At just 20 years old, he also offered considerable upside as a long term development prospect. I understand why people liked him, but I think his undoing was likely special teams related. He didn’t offer as much there as guys like Batson and Darius Jennings and was pretty much limited to just the slot role on offense. As a back of the roster receiver, it’s tough to make the team without offering more versatility. He went unclaimed through the waiver process before signing on to the Jets practice squad. I’m guessing the Titans would have liked to bring him back on their practice squad, but Burnett chose to reunite with his college QB, Sam Darnold Womens Kevin Byard Jersey , in New York. Akrum Wadley, RBWadley is a guy that many expected to compete for the third running back spot with David Fluellen, but that battle never really materialized in camp. The question then became whether he would force the Titans to keep four backs, but injuries held him back and left him on the outside looking in by cut day. The Titans signed Dalyn Dawkins to the practice squad already so it seems like they are moving on without Wadley altogether (though there are still four practice squad spots open as of this writing). Other TakeawaysLuke Falk didn’t earn a spot on the 53-man roster and I agree with the decision to let him go, even if he provides some information about the offense to the Dolphins. He doesn’t have an NFL arm and that’s not something that usually develops at the professional level. Keeping Firkser tells me that we are going to see plenty of 12 personnel in this offense. Matt LaFleur has commented that the Rams league-leading use of 11 personnel was more by necessity than design last season based on getting their best players on the field. I expect the Titans to use multiple tight end sets fairly often in 2018, though probably not at the level that Mike Mularkey did.The Vrabel Titans will prioritize special teams. The team kept at least three players — besides specialists Ryan Succop, Brett Kern, and Beau Brinkley — for their ability to impact the game on 4th down. Batson, Daren Bates, and Brynden Trawick are all on the 53-man roster to help in the kick coverage and return games primarily. Additionally, players like Darius Jennings, LeShaun Sims, Dane Cruikshank, and Will Compton all likely had their roster odds boosted by their ability to help on special teams. Jack Conklin was activated off PUP which means the team believes their starting right tackle will be ready to return at least a week or two prior to Week 7 (when he would have been eligible to return had he stayed on PUP). That’s great news for the Titans. The Titans ended up keeping 4 players from their 2018 UDFA class — Stinnie, Dickerson, Batson, and Sharif Finch — even though it may not have been some of the guys fans expected to make it. Will the Titans have a Malcolm Butler/Wesley Woodyard/Quinton Spain success story out of this group?

    • MILAN, Italy -- AC Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari has signed a one-year contract extension. Wholesale Bulls Jerseys . On Wednesday, Milan says Munatri extended his deal "until June 30, 2016." Muntaris previous contract was set to run out in 2015. The 29-year-old Muntari made 34 appearances for Milan last season in Serie A and the Champions League, scoring six goals. Muntari joined Milan initially on loan from city rivals Inter in January 2012, before making the move permanent in a free transfer that summer. The Ghana international is at the World Cup in Brazil, where he played the entire 90 minutes of his countrys opening match -- a 2-1 defeat to the United States. Authentic Robin Lopez Jersey . Nat Borchers headed in the sole goal in the 54th minute, getting on the end of a Kyle Beckerman free kick. The defeat cost Sporting top spot in the Eastern Conference. Even a draw would have moved the Kansas City club above Columbus. Wholesale Bulls Jerseys Authentic . -- Terry Francona likened the atmosphere at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday to a playoff game in October.Mike OShea hates losing. The first-year head coach has made that much crystal clear in his pair of post-game media sessions. His Blue Bombers are winless and their preseason schedule is complete. Now two days into a 12-day stretch before the regular season begins, Winnipegs freshly-minted field general is communicating optimism and relaying the positives in his football club. "I think the offence did a great job," OShea told reporters on Monday afternoon, his first availability in Winnipeg following the Bombers 23-20 loss in Calgary on Saturday. "When you look at the numbers to go along with that film — no two-and-outs, 26 first downs — that should be good enough to win." But its tough to beat a team like the Calgary Stampeders at McMahon when you spot them a 14-point lead after a quarter of play. So is OShea at all concerned with his starting defence allowing touchdown drives of 52 and 59 yards in Calgarys first three possessions, and 129 rushing yards in the first half? "No. No, I am not concerned at all. I know what weve put in and I know that well keep working. The effort is there. The buy-in is there. Im excited, actually. I got pulled out of the defensive meeting to come (speak to media). I just missed some great stuff." This seems somewhat contradictory when you look at the ease in which the Stampeders offence trotted down the field in the opening twenty minutes when it was starters versus starters. OShea has stated that coordinator Gary Etcheverrys defence has been purposefully "vanilla" in their preseason looks, keeping their cards close to the vest. And consider the likes of Johnny Sears and Donovan Alexander — two probable Week 1 starters — were also out of Saturdays lineup as they continue to recover from groin and calf injuries, respectively. The offence, meanwhile, indeed looked calculated and collected with Drew Willy at the helm. The first-year starter finished his day 14-of-23 for 172 yards, and could have been upwards of 70 per cent passing if it werent for a few easily caught balls that slipped through the hands of his receivers. "We started slow again, I think as an entire team. We have to find a way to rectify that," said OShea when questioned about his offence. "I thought the offence performed very well. I thought they played with a lot of heart. They played a real physical style. We ran the ball. We threw the ball. We moved the ball down the field. We moved the ball out from our own end. Maybe we didnt capitalize on enough of those opportunities down deep. Theres some very positive things." "We are still evaluating the No. 2 (quarterback) position, for sure," added OShea. "But yes, it was important to put Drew (Willy) back out there, and to give credit where its due, (offeensive coordinator) Marcel (Bellefeuille) came to me (at halftime) and said, lets put him back out. Authentic Wendell Carter Jr. Jersey. And we did." Keeping Willy in for the opening possession of the third quarter proved shrewd, as he engineered his third scoring drive on 10 plays that covered 76 yards before stalling on first-and-goal. Coming out after the break and continuing to build in-game experience with his receivers, backs, and linemen should prove worthwhile as the new No. 1 establishes chemistry with the pieces around him. Quarterbacks Brian Brohm, Max Hall, and Robert Marve all saw time running Winnipegs offence in preseason games, and it looks from afar that a decision will have to be made between Brohm and Hall as to who will backup Willy. Young Marves cannon-arm, deep ball accuracy, and ability to turn up field and dash for first downs will likely see him stick around as he familiarizes himself with the Canadian game. Its been a while since there has been a young project pivot in Winnipeg. The potential is there. Injury Report: Several projected starters missed the game in Calgary, including slotbacks Nick Moore (back) and Cory Watson (hamstring), cornerback Donovan Alexander (calf), and defensive back/linebacker Johnny Sears (groin). OShea says Watson will finally return to practice this week after sitting out since Day 2 of camp... Another National slotback, Julian Feoli-Gudino, suffered a "lower-body" injury late last week and looks to return soon, as the club may have to start him next to Watson and Rory Kohlert in a three-National receiver set since the loss of defensive tackle Ryan Lucas for the season with an ACL tear... The old adage You cant make the club from the tub is beginning to find reference alongside every mention of 2013 All-Star running back Will Fords name as of late. The position battle between rookies Nic Grigsby and Paris Cotton is reaching critical mass, and Fords layup since Day 3 of camp with a hamstring pull just may cost him his job... Speaking of Cotton, who was again impressive with the ball in his second preseason game (5 carries for 58 yards, 2 receptions for 24 yards), suffered an undisclosed leg injury late on Saturday. The explosive and slippery tailback is receiving assessment from the doctor on Monday and an update will be provided this week... According to the media release sent out by the team Monday morning, National linebacker Graig Newman, whom Kyle Walters targeted aggressively in free agency this winter, will "miss the 2014 season" with a dislocated and fractured ankle. Mike OShea isnt so sure stating, "Im not saying hes done for the season... Im optimistic and so is (Newman). Well see him soon... Ask me again in a couple months. Three months, possibly. Hes got a good spirit." Newman underwent surgery on Monday. cheap falcons jerseys cheap ravens jerseys cheap bills jerseys cheap bears jerseys cheap bengals jerseys cheap cowboys jerseys cheap lions jerseys cheap texans jerseys cheap colts jerseys cheap jaguars jerseys cheap chiefs jerseyscheap rams jerseys cheap dolphins jerseys cheap vikings jerseys cheap saints jerseys cheap giants jerseys cheap jets jerseys cheap eagles jerseys cheap steelers jerseys cheap 49ers jerseys ' ' '

Now with the series tied at one after two exciting games in Boston and headed to what promises to be a raucous Bell Centre, the Canadiens jumped into the fray with some verbal barbs of their own on Monday. After being stonewalled by Canadiens goalie Carey Price in Game 1 - when he made 48 saves to help his team steal one with a 4-3 double overtime win - and then finding themselves down 3-1 halfway through the third period of Game 2, the Bruins scored three goals in 5:32 to take a 4-3 lead en route to a 5-3 win. Following the game, Bruins defenceman Dougie Hamilton and Torey Krug told the media they believed theyve solved the Canadiens gold-medal winning netminder. "I think weve definitely noticed that when hes screened, hes looking low," said Hamilton who scored first in the three-goal outburst late in Game 2. "He gets really low, so it seems like we score a lot of goals up high when we have net front presence. I dont know if were really trying [to do that], but weve definitely noticed that. When we can get our shots through their defenceman – especially the ones trying to block it -- we have a really good chance of getting it in." "It seems like almost all of the goals so far have gone to the upper half of the net," added Krug. Following practice on Monday, the Canadiens were quick to brush the Bruins analysis of Price aside, with head coach Michel Therrien claiming it was just another example of his counterpart Claude Julien and the Bruins trying to get under the skin of an opposing goalie. Early in the 2013 Stanley Cup Final, the Bruins scored frequently on the glove side of Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford and werent shy about telling the media that they were exposing Crawfords weakness. Ironically, Crawfords goalie coach then was current Montreal goalie coach Stephane Waite and Therrien believes the Bruins are playing the same mind games as the series switches to the Bell Centre. "Well we all remember last year and Stephane Waite remember it more than anyone else that they make the same comments when they went into the playoffs and the Stanley Cup final with the Chicago Blackhawks and talking about about Corey Crawford," Therrien pointed out Monday. "Thats part of their game and their thinking. They try to put pressure on the other team with the media." Price seemed to find Hamiltons and Krugs comments almost comical. He pointed out that shooting high through traffic in front of the net is a common objective of most teams and players. "Ive seen a lot of scouting reports on lots of goalies throughout the league and thats pretty much the scouting report on everybody," Price said. "Its the same for Tuukka [Rask], its the same for Ben Bishop and its the same for Corey Crawford. So its a pretty irrelevant comment I thought. Authentic Blake Comeau Jersey. " Price was then asked if this was just another example of the Bruins trying to wage a verbal war through the media. "Sure. I dont know," Price said laughing. "I guess. But like I said, they can try it but its going to be no different. Like I said, thats essentially how most goals are scored this time of year in this league so thats essentially a generic comment." During Game 2, the Bruins took a bench minor due to Julien expressing his displeasure with some calls against his team and what he felt were a lack of calls against the Canadiens. When asked about his teams ability to rally for the win, the Bruins bench boss took what appeared to be a little jab at the officiating. "I think especially the way it happened - we had that tough second period and at the start of the third, they got that other power play goal, but the way we just battled back through, I felt, a lot of crap that we put up with today, was pretty indicative of what our teams all about," Julien said.  "It just shows that if you focus on the things you need to focus on, theres a pretty good team that can accomplish a lot." The crap part didnt go unnoticed by Therrien and on Monday he called his counterpart out. "Its the same thing with Claude. Hes not happy with all that ‘crap," he said. "I thought they got away with a lot of things as far as Im concerned, but they try and influence referees. Thats the way they are. Thats not going to change. Thats the way they like to do their things. But for us, were not paying attention to those things. We all know what theyre trying to do but it doesnt affect us at all." Therrien went on to say his team isnt going to focus on more retaliation through the media but rather to stay focused on their game plan on the ice. "We want to play hard and honestly we all understand the discipline is really crucial," he said. "Whatever comments they make on us, Im not a coach thats going to start making comments the other way. Its never been my philosophy. I dont like that. They can say whatever they want. Its their choice. But we know what we have to do to get success." That may very well be true, but the Canadiens made it clear Monday that they also dont plan to let every verbal jab from the Bruins go unheeded. • Syracuse is again a unanimous choice as the top-ranked mens college basketball team in the latest Associated Press poll. Authentic Wilt Chamberlain Jersey . The Orange beat Notre Dame and Clemson last week to remain one of only two undefeated teams in Division I mens basketball. Wichita State is the other. Syracuse received all 65 first-place votes and 1,625 points from a nationwide media panel to keep the top spot for a second straight week after supplanting Arizona. The Wildcats kept the second slot, while Florida, Wichita State, San Diego State and Villanova also remained unchanged from last week. Kansas moved up a spot to seventh, followed by Duke, Michigan State and Cincinnati. Duke rose three spots from 11th, while Cincinnati dipped three places from seventh after having its 15-game winning streak stopped with Saturdays loss at SMU. The second 10 consists of Iowa State, Saint Louis, Louisville, Kentucky, Michigan, Iowa, Virginia, Creighton, Texas and Memphis. Iowa State vaulted five spots from 16th after a pair of wins last week, while Michigan dropped five places from 10th after an 18-point loss at Iowa. Creighton also tumbled six spots after falling at St. Johns on Sunday. Wisconsin, Ohio State, SMU, Connecticut and Pittsburgh are the last five teams ranked. Wisconsin and Ohio State rejoined the poll after a one-week absence, while Larry Browns SMU Mustangs are ranked for the first time since late in the 1984-85 season. Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Gonzaga each dropped out after losses last week. Oklahoma State had been ranked all season and was as high as fifth in late November, but has lost four in a row and is now dealing with a three-game suspension to leading scorer Marcus Smart after his altercation with a fan on Saturday night at Texas Tech. This weeks ranked matchups include Tuesdays Big Ten tussle between Michigan and Ohio State in Columbus, while Syracuse will put its unblemished mark on the line Wednesday at Pittsburgh. On Saturday, Memphis visits Connecticut and Kentucky hosts Florida, while Sundays action has Villanova traveling to Creighton and another tough one for Michigan at home against Wisconsin. Authentic Shaun Livingston Jersey . And theyre pointing to the NHLs biggest market: Toronto. With Gretzky paid out for what is believed to be $7 to 8 million, Gretzky may be eager to get back into the NHL and TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports that the Maple Leafs are very much interested in The Great Ones services. But could it actually happen? Dreger spoke with TSN Radio 1050 Torontos Mike Richards this morning, stating that there is a fit between Gretzky and the Leafs. "There definitely is a possibility because there is some history here," Dreger told TSN Radio. "Prior to the start of the season I know that [Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment CEO] Tim Leiweke and Wayne Gretzky and probably some legal people involved in this negotiation as well went back and forth and came very close until the deal broke down for a number of reasons that remain somewhat uncertain. The belief is that Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment wanted Gretzky at the time and still want him as almost an ambassador-type." However, MLSE doesnt see "ambassador-type" as merely a figure-head or spokesperson role, according to Dreger. "This isnt a token position," he told Richards. "They want to put him to work and they want to use him in different areas and not to pay specific attention to just the Toronto Maple Leafs." Dregeer added that its not likely that Gretzky will be asked to fix the on-ice product of the Leafs. Cheap Warriors Jerseys. "Theyre happy with the work Dave Nonis is doing and dont want to interfere with the hockey operations department, but when youve got someone as [high] profile as Wayne Gretzky it makes a lot of sense, I suppose, to MLSE to do whatever you can to lure him in," he said. Gretzky and the Leafs have been linked by rumours throughout the year, including the off-season rumours as well as The Great One praising the young Leafs response to head coach Randy Carlyle in the first round of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Boston Bruins. "Its about believing in your system. The system starts with the head coach," Gretzky said of the Leafs following a gutsy Game 5 win over the Bruins. "Hes got tremendous credibility after winning a Stanley Cup himself [2007 in Anaheim]. Its not a question of players saying, Are we sure he knows what hes doing? Because theyre absolutely positive he knows what hes doing. The credibility starts right there with the coach." But would there be a fit between Gretzky and the team closest to his home town? Dreger thinks MLSE is at least willing to give it another try. "It didnt work out prior to the season but the sense I get is that therell be another attempt and I know that the Toronto Maple Leafs - or MLSE, as it were, as the bigger company – is definitely worth listening to if youre Wayne Gretzky." cheap falcons jerseys cheap ravens jerseys cheap bills jerseys cheap bears jerseys cheap bengals jerseys cheap cowboys jerseys cheap lions jerseyscheap texans jerseys cheap colts jerseys cheap jaguars jerseys cheap chiefs jerseys cheap rams jerseys cheap dolphins jerseys cheap vikings jerseys cheap saints jerseys cheap giants jerseys cheap jets jerseys cheap eagles jerseys cheap steelers jerseys cheap 49ers jerseys ' ' '

    • After three days off — including two rained out games and one travel day — the Winnipeg Goldeyes seemed out of their groove on Tuesday night, as they lost to the Can-Am Leagues New Jersey Jackals. Authentic Reds Jerseys For Sale .The Goldeyes (18-11) began their eastern road trip losing 4-1 to the Jackals (13-9) at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, New Jersey. This was the first time the Goldeyes have played at Yogi Berra Stadium since the 2002 Northern League Championship Series. The Jackals beat the Goldeyes in the final two games of that series in Little Falls to claim their second straight league championship. The Jackals took the lead early on Tuesday night, with two solo home runs in the first inning to get ahead two runs. They added another run on a sac fly in the bottom of the fourth, and tacked on their fourth run in the bottom of the fifth.Jackals pitcher Gabriel Perez kept the Goldeyes bats quiet. He went strong for seven innings, facing only 22 batters, striking out five and giving up only one hit to the Fish.“He kept us off balance for the most part,” said Goldeyes Pitching Coach Jamie Vermilyea of Perez on the Jewel 101 Post-Game Show. “He pitched a good game.”Despite being on the hook for all four of the Jackals runs, and the loss, Goldeyes pitcher Chris Salamida was able to retire the last seven batters he faced. He also recorded six strikeouts, and only gave up one walk over his seven innings of work.“He also pitched well,” said Vermilyea. “He made a few mistakes there in the first inning, but he also got out of a few jams, and gave us a chance to win.”The Goldeyes only run came in top of the ninth. Casey Haerther reached on a single and then was driven in on a Jake Blackwood RBI double.“Its good to end on somewhat of a positive note. Hopefully we can keep the batting momentum going into the game tomorrow,” Vermilyea said. With the loss the Goldeyes move a game and a half back of the St. Paul Saints for second in the American Association North Division. The Goldeyes continue their series against the Jackals tomorrow and Thursday with both games going at 6 p.m. Tomorrow the Goldeyes will send Nick Hernandez (2-0) to the mound to face New Jerseys Keith Bilodeau (0-1). The Fish then travel to Quebec to take on the Quebec Capitales in a three-game series that goes Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Reds Joey Votto Jersey . There is no argument that the line of Pacioretty, David Desharnais and Thomas Vanek was one of the hottest in the NHL leading into the post-season, and they did combine for three goals and seven points, but it was the depth of all four lines that helped propel Montreal. Reds Austin Brice Jersey . - Leon Draisaitl scored a hat trick as the Prince Albert Raiders stormed past the Swift Current Broncos 5-2 in Western Hockey League action Tuesday. ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Vancouver Canucks are at the point in the season where every loss could end their playoff hopes. Those hopes are still alive after a big road win over Minnesota. David Booth scored two unassisted goals and Eddie Lack made 29 saves to lead Vancouver over the Wild 5-2 on Wednesday. Zack Kassian, Daniel Sedin and Ryan Kesler also scored for Vancouver as the Canucks try to make a late push to overtake Phoenix and Dallas for the Western Conferences final wild-card playoff spot. "Its huge, were in a do-or-die position," Alexandre Burrow said. "If we would have lost this game we probably would have been out of the race." Minnesota outshot Vancouver 31-19 and got goals from Charlie Coyle and Nino Niederreiter, but lost its third straight at home. Booth scored for the second consecutive game after going scoreless in his previous 32. On his first goal, Booth took the puck the length of the ice after a faceoff and fired it past Darcy Kuemper. Booths second goal broke a 1-1 tie in the second period and came after Jared Spurgeon whiffed on a pass in the Wild zone, leading to a bad turnover and a point-blank look for Booth. "We didnt generate a ton of shots, but we were able to capitalize on the ones we did," Booth said. Minnesota, currently holding the first wild-card spot in the West, controlled play for most of the first two periods, but failed to capitalize on four power plays and fell behind 3-1. Even though his team was generating chances early, Wild coach Mike Yeo was nervous. "Especially in that first period, were out chancing them, were outshooting them, but still. Just didnt quite have the right feel," he said. Ilya Bryzgalov took over for the slumping Kuemper after two periods. Kuemper allowed three goals in 12 shots, the fifth time in his last seven start hes allowed at least three goals. "Dont feel good about that one," Kuemper said. "Obviously we were controlling the play and to finnd ourselves down 3-1, yeah Ive got to help the guys out a little bit better. Reds Dave Concepcion Jersey. quot; The switch didnt get Minnesota going. Vancouver killed an early third period power play, and then put the game away on Sedins goal at 11:12 to make it 4-1. "I didnt think we played great, but we stuck with it and at the end we came out with a big win," Sedin said. "For sure, its something to build." The goal was Sedins first in his last 23 games and his first point in his last 13. Coyles goal was his third in three games. The centre had scored only once in his previous 24 games. Lack got a little help in the second period from Alexander Edler. Zach Parise stuffed the puck between Lacks pads, but just before it crossed the goal line, Edler swept it away. "We know its do-or-die now and we got to come up with the same kind of effort tomorrow," Lack said. Vancouver has won six of its last nine after losing 11 of 12. Both Phoenix and Dallas were idle on Wednesday. The Canucks now have 78 points, Dallas 79 and Phoenix 82. Henrik Sedin missed the game with a leg injury and didnt make the trip. As Minnesota tries to hang on to its playoff position, Yeo has to answer questions about his goaltending situation. "I want to be careful on that one. Im not saying that we cant be any better between the pipes, but at the same time theres some quality chances that were giving up," he said. "Obviously, we have to do our part to make sure those guys are in the right frame of mind." • INDIANAPOLIS - IndyCar has penalized Chevrolet for changing an engine too soon in Juan Pablo Montoyas car at last weekends Detroit Grand Prix. Authentic Marc Methot Jersey . Chevy was docked 10 points Tuesday in the race for the engine manufacture championship. Chevy had previous penalties rescinded regarding torque and traction control. It will get 10 manufacture points back after that were taken away by IndyCar on May 12 because the changes were determined to be unintentional technical violations. Authentic Ben Bishop Jersey . Linemates Ryan Johansen and Boone Jenner each had a goal and an assist in the first period, and Sergei Bobrovsky made 36 saves to lead the Blue Jackets past the Florida Panthers 4-1 on Saturday night.PITTSBURGH -- Forget the 0-4 start. Forget the remarkable finish, the one that kept the Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoff picture until the final minutes of the regular season. Theres no such thing as partial credit in the NFL. "We were an 8-8 team," safety Troy Polamalu said. One that will spend January at home for a second straight year. LeVeon Bell ran for 90 yards and a touchdown as the Steelers drubbed the lifeless Browns 20-7 on Sunday, though Pittsburghs bid to become the second team in NFL history to go winless in September and make the playoffs ended when San Diego edged Kansas City 27-24 in overtime. "We are going to build on this," quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said. "I think we have put together a good foundation." One that went 6-2 over the final eight weeks, recovering from a potentially franchise-altering 55-31 loss to New England on Nov. 3 to play perhaps the best football in the AFC by someone not named Denver over the second half. Or, the exact opposite of what happened in Cleveland, which fired first-year coach Rob Chudzinski hours after the game. The Browns (4-12) lost their final seven games and 10 of their last 11. Not exactly the step forward new owner Jimmy Haslam was looking for with a roster littered with five Pro Bowl players. "We needed to see progress with this football team," the Browns said in a statement after firing Chudzinski. "We needed to see development and improvement as the season evolved and, unfortunately, we took a concerning step backward in the second half of the year. "Our fans deserve to see a consistently competitive team. We have high standards, and theres an urgency for success. When we believed we were not positioned to achieve significant progress in 2014, we knew we had to admit that a change was needed, and move forward." Chudzinskis players did something after the game they failed to do during it: rally around their coach. "Its just absurd to me that a report would be out like that, about a good coach like that," Browns linebacker DQwell Jackson said. "Its crazy, and that (ticked) me off when I heard that." Cleveland didnt exactly play angry while letting the Steelers roll to victory for the 26th time in 31 meetings since the Browns were revived in 1999. Roethlisberger passed for 179 yards and a touchdown against two interceptions as Pittsburgh won its third straight to avoid the franchises first losing season since 2003. "Guys just kept fighting," Steelers defensive end Cam Heyward said. "Wasnt anything glorious or something beautiful, we just came out off nowhere. Authentic Jamie Benn Jersey. " Jason Campbell completed 23 of 41 passes for 240 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Josh Gordon caught seven passes for 82 yards to finish with an NFL-high 1,646 yards receiving, a first for the franchise. It proved little solace on a wet, miserable day at Heinz Field in which Cleveland looked very much like the same old Browns. Cleveland was largely noncompetitive over the seasons final three months, with seven losses by a touchdown or more, including two to the Steelers by a combined 47-18. There is no sense of panic in Pittsburgh. A season that appeared teetering on embarrassment after the record-setting loss to the Patriots ended up with a decidedly rosier finish. The Steelers scored on the opening drive, a 9-yard strike from Roethlisberger to Jerricho Cotchery, and it was more than enough. Whenever the Browns threatened, they found a way to botch it. Twice they failed on fourth-down attempts in Pittsburgh territory and didnt reach the end zone until Campbell found Fozzy Whitaker on a 35-yard pass with 2:46 remaining. By then most of the attention had turned to the scoreboard, where the biggest roars were saved for scores by the Bengals and Jets, who then won to boost Pittsburghs playoff chances. Kansas City nearly did the same, but Ryan Succop missed a 41-yard field goal with 4 seconds left in regulation and San Diego survived. Still, the Steelers remain convinced better days lay ahead, thanks in part to Bells rapid development. He broke Hall of Famer Franco Harris team record for total yards from scrimmage by a rookie by combining for 96 yards in the muck at Heinz Field. Bell finished with 1,259 total yards in just 13 games, 24 more than the mark of 1,235 Harris set in 1972. Bells 5-yard touchdown burst in the second quarter, which included a nifty spin move in the backfield, gave the Steelers a 14-0 lead at the break. It capped an 87-yard drive in which he touched the ball 10 times in 14 plays. That was plenty for a rejuvenated defence that sacked Campbell three times, including a strip fumble by defensive end Brett Keisel, likely playing his final regular-season game of his 12-year career with Pittsburgh. Despite the outcome, Keisel isnt closing the door on a return. "I still feel like I can play," Keisel said. "You know, well see." Just not until 2014. NOTES: Brown caught nine passes for 97 yards to finish with 110 receptions on the season, narrowly missing the club mark of 112 set by Hines Ward in 2012. ... Roethlisberger finished with 4,261 yards passing, the second-highest total in team history to his 4,328 in 2009. cheap falcons jerseys cheap ravens jerseys cheap bills jerseys cheap bears jerseys cheap bengals jerseys cheap cowboys jerseys cheap lions jerseys cheap texans jerseys cheap colts jerseys cheap jaguars jerseys cheap chiefs jerseys cheap rams jerseys cheap dolphins jerseys cheap vikings jerseys cheap saints jerseys cheap giants jerseys cheap jets jerseys cheap eagles jerseys cheap steelers jerseys cheap 49ers jerseys ' ' '

    • MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee tweaked its top of the batting order recently and it has been paying off. Ricky Rubio Jersey . On Friday night, the rest of the Brewers lineup joined in on the fun. Ryan Braun homered to highlight a five-run first inning and the Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs 11-5 on Friday night. "Everybodys swinging the bat well," Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke said, "and theres no doubt when everybody is hitting like this and there are mistakes made, were not missing them like we were earlier." Braun had three hits and three RBIs for Milwaukee, which has won 25 of its last 31 games against Chicago. Rickie Weeks and Martin Maldonado had three hits and two RBIs each as the Brewers scored a season-high runs in its most lopsided victory of the year. "Youve got to cherish moments like this when you come out swinging and it lasts the whole game," Weeks said. "Its always a good thing." Marco Estrada (5-2) allowed three earned runs and six hits in six innings. Travis Wood (5-5) turned in his shortest outing of the season when he lasted only 2 2-3 innings. He gave up 10 hits and seven earned runs for the Cubs (19-33), who have the worst record in the majors. "They hit everything I threw up there," said Wood, who allowed two hits and struck out seven in seven innings of a 4-2 victory over Milwaukee on May 18. "It didnt matter what I threw. They were hacking early and they got to me. ... Three pitches into it, I was two runs downs. Its tough to get into a rhythm there." Chicago, shut out in its last two games at San Francisco, ended its scoreless streak at 22 innings. "We scored a couple of runs but we fell behind the 8 ball early, and it was just kind of tough to recover," Chicago manager Rick Renteria said. The change to the top of Milwaukees lineup has paid dividends. Jean Segura has batted leadoff the last eight games and is 14 for 38 (.368) with seven runs scored during that time. Braun has hit second in each of the last six games and is 13 for 27 (.481) with seven RBIs. Before this season he had not batted anywhere in the starting lineup but third since Sept. 30, 2010. And Carlos Gomez batted cleanup for his seventh straight game -- Aramis Ramirez is on the disabled list -- and is 13 for 27 with one homer and eight RBIs. He led off his first 42 games this season. Against Chicago, they were a combined 4 for 5 with a walk in the first two innings to help Milwaukee take a 6-0 lead. "We just need to do what works for us," Segura said. "This is good for us." All three reached base in the first, as Chicago allowed five runs in an inning for the first time since April 12, against St. Louis. "When you come out in the first inning like we did, thats outstanding," Roenicke said. "It allows your pitcher to do some different things, and then we added to it, which a lot of times weve been scoring in the first inning or second inning and then we dont do much the rest of the game." On the first pitch of the game, Segura reached on an infield single. Two pitches later, Brauns blast sailed over the wall in right-centre field for his eighth homer -- and first at Miller Park. "When you get guys on base early, things usually escalate pretty well after that," Weeks said. Gomez walked and scored on a double by Khris Davis for a 3-0 lead. Weeks followed with a run-scoring single before Maldonado gave Milwaukee a 5-0 lead with a two-out double. In the second, Gomez extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a single that drove in Braun for the six-run lead. A four-run fifth padded Milwaukees lead to 11-2. "It makes things a little easier, especially when Im kind of scuffling," Estrada said. "My last two outings before this Ive kind of been all over the place. Tonight I just felt much better. I located better, but still walked four guys and cant keep doing stuff like that." NOTES: Ramirez will begin a rehab assignment Sunday with the Class-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. ... Chicagos 20 road losses are the most in the NL. ... Braun moved into sole possession of fourth place on the franchises all-time RBI list with 707. ... Wood was trying to become the fourth Cubs pitcher in the last 20 years with five victories in May. ... Milwaukee tied a team record by collecting at least 10 hits in its ninth straight game. ... Starlin Castro has reached safely in his last 14 games at Miller Park dating to Aug. 22, 2012. ... Chicago is 7-25 at Miller Park since the start of the 2011 season. Donovan Mitchell Jersey . Virtanen opened the scoring at 6:45 of the first period, then gave Canada a two-goal lead with a power-play goal 1:03 into the second. Sweden cut the lead in half when Daniel Muzito Bagenda scored a power-play goal at 10:57 of the second. Custom Utah Jazz Jerseys . The agreement comes a little more than one week after the video game manufacturer agreed to a $40 million settlement in a similar but separate case, bringing the total payout planned for athletes to $60 million, said Steve Berman, an attorney for the plaintiffs, and the NCAA. CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Panthers Pro Bowl defensive end Greg Hardy was released from jail on $17,000 bond Wednesday, one day after being arrested on charges of assault on a female and communicating threats. Hardy left jail wearing sweatpants and a black tank top. He did not speak to reporters. Charlotte Mecklenburg County Judge Rebecca Thorne Tin called Hardy a potential threat and ordered him not to have any contact with the accuser and to attend three Alcoholic Anonymous meetings per week. In the arrest warrant, the 24-year-old accuser alleges Hardy threw her on a pile of guns and threatened to kill her. She filed a protective restraining order against Hardy on Wednesday, saying he attacked her in his apartment and "picked me up and threw me into the tile tub area in the bathroom" and that she "has bruises from head to toe." She also says in the filing that the 6-foot-4, 290-pound Hardy pulled her by the hair and "was screaming he was going to kill me, break my arms and other threats." She says Hardy choked her with both hands around her throat before picking her up and throwing her onto a couch "covered with assault rifles and/or shotguns" and "bragged that the guns were loaded." "He threatened to shoot me if I went to the media or reported his assault to anyone," she says. She says Hardy has approximately 25 to 30 firearms in his downtown Charlotte apartment, including an AK-47. She says she eventually got out of the apartment, where she ran into Charlotte Mecklenburg police. Hardys attorney, Chris Fialko, refuted those allegations Wednesday. He argued in court -- and later outside the courtroom -- that Hardy and Sammy Curtis, his administrative assistant, were attacked by the accuser, and that it was Hardy who made the 911 call to police at 4:18 a.m. Tuesday. The accusers attorney, Stephen Goodwin, said his client was held down by Curtis and prevented from calling police. Goodwin called Fialkos claim that Hardy was the one attacked by the accuser false. "The physical evidence doesnt even come close to matching that," Goodwin said. There were conflicting reports from 911 calls obtained by The Associated Press on Wednesday night from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. On a call made by Hardy, the NFL player can be heard saying, "t;My assistant is trying to restrain her and shes trying to break free and hit me with her heel. Pete Maravich Jersey. Im literally running around the table right now." Hardy also mentions in the call that he thinks the accuser is "on coke or something. I dont know. Shes been drinking. I dont know what shes on, man." In another call by someone at the players condominium, an unidentified woman tells the operator that the woman had been beaten for more than 30 minutes. "Hes beating her (butt) in there. Some girls getting her (butt) beat upstairs and I heard it. And I seen it. Hes beating her (butt) right now." Goodwin said Hardy and the accuser, who the lawyer said works as a waitress in Charlotte, were in a relationship and previously lived together. They were not living together at the time of the incident, which occurred at an "after hours" party. Goodwin said he doesnt know what sparked the fight, but Tin stated in the courtroom that both parties were drinking alcohol. Judge Tin said the court was "very concerned" about the bruises on the accusers neck and back. Hardy spent Tuesday night in jail and appeared in court Wednesday wearing an orange jump suit. The incident began early Tuesday morning. Police said patrol officers responded to a domestic violence assault call at 4:18 a.m. Hardy tied a franchise record with 15 sacks last season for the leagues second-ranked defence. He had 11 sacks in 2012. That production convinced the salary-cap strapped Panthers to make Hardy their franchise player at $13.116 million for one season. Hardy signed the teams offer sheet in March. The Panthers said in a statement Tuesday they were "very disappointed" to learn of the allegations and planned to investigate. Hardys NFL agent, Drew Rosenhaus, was in the courtroom but declined comment. Hardys next court date is June 27. The Panthers organization is particularly sensitive to domestic violence issues. In 2001, Panthers wide receiver Rae Carruth was found guilty of conspiring to murder his girlfriend, Cherica Adams, who was carrying his child. Carruth was sentenced to 18 to 24 years in prison. Hardys court appearance occurred on the same day the Panthers hosted a breakfast at their stadium for "Men For Change," a group that serves victims of domestic violence. cheap falcons jerseyscheap ravens jerseys cheap bills jerseys cheap bears jerseys cheap bengals jerseys cheap cowboys jerseys cheap lions jerseys cheap texans jerseys cheap colts jerseys cheap jaguars jerseys cheap chiefs jerseys cheap rams jerseys cheap dolphins jerseys cheap vikings jerseys cheap saints jerseys cheap giants jerseys cheap jets jerseys cheap eagles jerseys cheap steelers jerseys cheap 49ers jerseys ' ' '

    • SAN DIEGO -- Until Thursday, Jesse Hahn hadnt pitched seven innings since his junior year of college in 2010, after which he had reconstructive elbow surgery. Authentic Kevin Gravel Jersey . The rookie right-hander pitched seven strong innings and pinch-hitter Chris Denorfia singled in the go-ahead run in a four-run seventh for the San Diego Padres, who rallied for the second straight game to beat the Seattle Mariners 4-1 on Thursday night. "Im building up my innings and my pitch count and Ive actually felt stronger and stronger as I went out there, so hopefully next start Ill be able to go eight, and maybe a complete game," Hahn said. The light-hitting Padres salvaged a split of the four-game season series by winning consecutive games for the first time since May 30-31. Robinson Cano had three singles for the Mariners, who beat the Padres in Seattle on Monday and Tuesday. Hahn (2-1) was making his third big league start. He held Seattle to an unearned run and five hits, struck out seven and walked two. In his last two starts, Hahn has allowed no earned runs and just six hits while striking out 14 in 13 innings. "He did a lot of nice things on the mound," manager Bud Black said. "He showed again composure for a guy whos only made three major league starts, so there was a lot of good today from Jesse." Huston Street pitched the ninth for his 20th save in 20 opportunities, getting a double-play ball after allowing a double and single with one out. Seattles Erasmo Ramirez, winless since April 1, left with a 1-0 lead after six innings. But Dominic Leone (2-1) allowed four runs, three hits and a walk while getting only one out in the seventh. Yasmani Grandal grounded out leading off the Padres seventh before they tied it on consecutive triples by Tommy Medica and Cameron Maybin. On Wednesday night, Medicas RBI pinch-hit single in the eighth gave the Padres a 2-1 win. Carlos Quentin walked and was replaced by pinch-runner Jace Peterson before Denorfia, pinch-hitting for Hahn, singled to centre to bring in Maybin with the go-ahead run. Joe Beimel came on and retired Will Venable before allowing Everth Cabreras two-run single to right. "Hittings contagious," Medica said. "A few guys start doing it, I mean, it starts clicking. We did it that inning and hopefully we can get it rolling a little more." Ramirez held San Diego to two hits while striking out three and walking two. "Im back to being myself, like I used to be," he said. "Ive been throwing balls, balls and now this has been the opposite, throw more strikes. Every outing I feel like Im getting better. Im just going to continue to pound the strike zone. That is my goal." Said Black: "Ramirez had us. Whether we were behind the fastball and ahead of the change, he and (catcher John) Buck had us going back and forth. He had us in vice grips for those six innings. They made a pitching change and we got some things going." Cano drove in Seattles only run with his second single off Hahn, in the fifth. Cano extended his road hitting streak to 20 games. Brad Miller drew a leadoff walk and was safe at second on Endy Chavezs one-out grounder after Cabrera, the shortstop, dropped the ball for an error. Miller scored on Canos single to right-centre. "Im not going to take anything away from that young man," Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon said. "I thought he threw a pretty good game. He kept us off-balance with his slow curveball. He kept his fastball down for the most part. We had some chances but we just didnt have good at-bats in scoring opportunities today and that has been our challenge all year." NOTES: The Padres placed 1B Yonder Alonso on the 15-day DL, retroactive to Tuesday, with tendinitis in his right wrist. ... To take his place on the roster, OF Jake Goebbert was selected from Triple-A El Paso. Goebbert is still waiting to make his big league debut. He was in the on-deck circle in the seventh but was pulled back for Denorfia. He was acquired from Oakland on May 15 in the deal that sent Kyle Blanks to Oakland. ... Padres 2B Jedd Gyorko had his left foot put back into a cast and walking boot. He had removed them recently as he battles plantar fasciitis. "Its not a good sign," Black said. "But hopefully it helps."... Not only is Bernier facing a mighty barrage of shots once more in his second season as the Leafs No. 1, but as a new dad, hes prone to the typical restless nights of most young parents. What’s he more familiar with though is that busy workload as Toronto’s top dog in goal. No starter in the league faced more shots on a nightly basis than the 26-year-old last year – 34 per game at even-strength – and after all too brief respite, he’s facing a whole bunch more again this fall. The Leafs have won six straight and 10 of 12 on the strength of their goaltending and an absolutely scorching offence, but they’ve surrendered an average of 37 shots in the past nine games, reverting all too recently to a formula that led to disaster last spring. “We’re still very much a work in progress,” head coach, Randy Carlyle urged. “It’s a game of mistakes and we’ve got to cut down on some of the mistakes that we’ve been making as of late.” Long the backup to Jonathan Quick in L.A.’s stingy system, Bernier has gotten used to the drastically different challenge of a heavy workload in Toronto. His routines have changed, if not dramatically then slightly to accommodate the requirements of starting just about every night under such strain. The purpose of practice, for example, has changed. Bernier no longer relies upon bucket after bucket of pucks to stay sharp. Instead it’s more about management, of his body and the details of his game. On Wednesday morning, hours after he faced 42 shots in a 6-2 win over Anaheim, Bernier took to the ice at the team’s practice facility 10 minutes or so before the 11:45 a.m. session got underway. He wanted to work on a couple different things, namely stick shots and belly shots. And rather than linger after the practice, as he would’ve as the backup, Bernier exited just a few short minutes after its conclusion, requiring the extra rest more than the extra shots. “I still go out there and want to work on details,” he said. “[But] when you play a lot you don’t need to practice as much obviously, you get your reps in the game. It’s just to stay sharp on little details.” Additionally, Bernier has opted out of most morning skates, preferring to save the added wear on his body. It’s all part of the adjustment he’s made to playing regularly in the league. Bernier started more games as a Leaf last year than he did in the entirety of his three full seasons as the Kings backup. Perhaps most importantly, he faced more shots a year ago (1,787) than he did in all those L.A. years combined. He’s on pace for 58 starts this year and an even greater number of shots than last season. “I think the most important thing for me is rest. I like to have a two and a half hour nap [on game-days], especially maybe with the baby now I really take advantage of it,” Bernier says with a wide grin. “But that’s something to me that when I feel good I feel rested I feel sharrp. Authentic Mark Fayne Jersey. .” His baby boy, Tyler, has altered that equation slightly too. “It changes your life I guess,” said Bernier. “It takes a little while to get adjusted but right now I feel I’ve gotten into a routine a little bit.” The numbers reflect that. Bernier endured some “early season woes” as Carlyle described them recently, but he’s been locked in since the end of November, compiling a mighty .936 save percentage in his last seven starts. He’s done this just as the workload has picked up. Scoring more than four goals per game has helped mask some deficiencies for the Leafs in recent weeks, including familiar possession troubles that have led to some busy nights for Bernier and tandem partner, James Reimer. Jonathan Bernier Shots Faced Year Starts Shots Against 2010-11 22 652 2011-12 13 383 2013 12 306 2013-14 49 1787 2014-15 22 695 That’s what led Carlyle to observe that his team was “slipping” following the game Tuesday against the Ducks, trending away from the structured game that’s shown itself here and there in the past month. After the Leafs were blown out by Nashville in mid-November the club had a look at the stingiest shot suppression teams in the league, saw Minnesota leading the pack and made it a goal to hit their mark – 25 shots or less – nightly. They came close in three games thereafter, holding Tampa, Detroit and Pittsburgh under 30, but have since reverted to the troubling form of last season in many instances. At a team meeting before practice Wednesday the group talked again about pushing the shots against back under 25. They’ve held opponents under 30 just nine times in 31 games and are yielding 34 shots per game, fourth-most in the league. “I don’t think the last two games we’ve been very solid,” Bernier said, “but at the same time when you score that many goals you can allow yourself to make a few more mistakes.” A restricted free agent next summer, Bernier’s contract will be among the many of intrigue for the Leafs. Hes quickly made the case of his capability as a quality starter, but just how good he is and can be is still being determined. The short-term results are encouraging though. Only Carey Price, Tuukka Rask, Semyon Varlamov and Sergei Bobrovsky have a higher save percentage than him since the start of last season – the latter two falling off some this year. And Bernier trails only Varlamov and Rask with a 62 per cent quality start percentage in that same short span*. Being a starter and busy one at that appears to suit the Quebec native just fine. *(Courtesy of the Hockey Abstract’s Rob Vollman, a goaltender qualifies for a quality start when he stops at least the league average number of shots or plays as well as a “replacement level” goalie while yielding two goals or less.) cheap falcons jerseys cheap ravens jerseys cheap bills jerseys cheap bears jerseys cheap bengals jerseys cheap cowboys jerseys cheap lions jerseys cheap texans jerseys cheap colts jerseys cheap jaguars jerseys cheap chiefs jerseys cheap rams jerseyscheap dolphins jerseys cheap vikings jerseys cheap saints jerseys cheap giants jerseys cheap jets jerseys cheap eagles jerseys cheap steelers jerseys cheap 49ers jerseys ' ' '

    • There is a lot of uncertainty in the Eastern Conference playoff race, as the March 5th trade deadline approaches, which means a lot can change in a short period of time before the March 5th trade deadline. Authentic Jevon Carter Jersey . Scott Cullen presents the 2014 Trade Deadline Playbook for the Eastern Conference. Its been accepted that the Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins are clearly the top teams in the Eastern Conference, but there are so many teams still involved in the playoff race that buyers and sellers cant be easily differentiated without a few more results. Buffalo, Florida and the New York Islanders are the three teams that can be considered sellers, but there are six teams between 61 and 64 points, with Detroit (64 points in 58 games) currently holding the final playoff spot. If a few more of those teams fall further behind than their current two or three-point deficits, that could help initiate more trade activity. A couple of notes about the following chart: Restricted Free Agents (RFA) have contracts that expire this summer, barring a contract extension in the meantime, but their current team retains the right to match a contract offer so long as they make the requisite qualifying offer. While restricted free agents havent moved a lot, its worth noting when decision time is coming on a young players contract. Unrestricted Free Agents (UFA) have contracts that will expire this summer and, without a contract extension, they will be free to sign with whatever team they choose on July 1. These are the players that often move in "rental"-type deals, ideally providing a short-term fix with minimal commitment required. Top prospects are the top five players in each organization, but other top prospects may be listed among other players of interest. Contending teams may be more likely to dangle a prospect or two as they try to find that final piece for their playoff mix, while its safe to assume that young and rebuilding teams arent going to move top prospects unless they get a significant long-term piece in return. Other players of interest will include prospects who have spent some time in the NHL this season as well as players under contract for future seasons that may have some level of attractiveness on the trade market. IMPORTANT: Just because a player is listed as being of interest, it doesnt mean he will be traded or should be traded. Some may just be of interest for teams looking to hit a home run when trying to swing a deal or they are players that may be considered to be underachieving for the money they are due over the rest of their contract. Generally, then, heres a rough guide for which players each Eastern Conference team might have at their disposal in order to make a trade leading up to the deadline. The Western Conference Playbook can be viewed here. BOSTON BRUINS UFA in 2014: Jarome Iginla, Shawn Thornton, Chad Johnson. RFA in 2014: Reilly Smith, Jordan Caron, Torey Krug, Matt Bartkowski. Top Prospects: Malcolm Subban, G, Providence (AHL)Ryan Spooner, C, Providence (AHL)Alexander Khokhlachev, C, Providence (AHL)Joe Morrow, D, Providence (AHL)Seth Griffith, RW, Providence (AHL) Others of Interest: Adam McQuaid, Anthony Camara, Ryan Fitzgerald, Matt Fraser, Zach Trotman. No-Trade Clauses: Milan Lucic (modified), David Krejci (modified), Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, Loui Eriksson, Chris Kelly, Zdeno Chara, Johnny Boychuk (modified), Dennis Seidenberg (limited). The Plan: The Bruins have been getting by just fine since D Dennis Seidenberg suffered his season-ending knee injury, but finding a veteran defenceman to eat up some of those minutes has to be a priority for a team that is expected to challenge for a title. Its one thing to get quality minutes from Matt Bartkowski and Kevan Miller, its another to go into the playoffs with them taking prominent roles and Bartkowski has been playing about 21 minutes per game since the start of January. The Bruins made some moves in the offseason, notably shaking up their right wing, but there is a lot of continuity on this roster, with a stable core that has enjoyed playoff success in recent seasons. BUFFALO SABRES UFA in 2014: Matt Moulson, Steve Ott, Cody McCormick, Zenon Konopka, John Scott, Matt DAgostini, Kevin Porter, Henrik Tallinder, Alexander Sulzer, Ryan Miller. RFA in 2014: Tyler Ennis, Marcus Foligno, Jamie McBain, Brayden McNabb. Top Prospects: Rasmus Ristolainen, D, Rochester (AHL)Nikita Zadorov, D, Rochester (AHL)Joel Armia, RW, Rochester (AHL)Jake McCabe, D, Wisconsin (Big 10)Mark Pysyk, D, Rochester (AHL) Others of Interest: Drew Stafford, Mikhail Grigorenko, Johan Larsson, J.T. Compher, Matt Hackett. No-Trade Clauses: Christian Ehrhoff (modified), Ryan Miller (limited). The Plan: New GM Tim Murray gets to put his stamp on the organization and has a challenging position to take right off the bat if hes going to deal G Ryan Miller, who has clearly been the Sabres best player this season. But, Miller will be an unrestricted free agent and is attractive enough that he should bring a quality package in return. There are several other Sabres veterans that could be moved, including LW Matt Moulson, C Steve Ott and D Henrik Tallinder, and its easy enough to look at the Sabres and shed all veterans as they build for the future -- expecting that they are still a few years away from icing a competitive team -- but Buffalo will have to keep a certain number of vets around if only to reach the salary floor next season. CAROLINA HURRICANES UFA in 2014: Manny Malhotra, Radek Dvorak, Joni Pitkanen, Ron Hainsey, Mike Komisarek, Anton Khudobin, Justin Peters. RFA in 2014: Jiri Tlusty, Drayson Bowman, Nathan Gerbe, Justin Faulk, Brett Bellemore. Top Prospects: Ryan Murphy, D, Charlotte (AHL)Victor Rask, C, Charlotte (AHL)Brock McGinn, LW, Guelph (OHL)Phil Di Giuseppe, LW, Michigan (Big 10)Danny Biega, D, Charlotte (AHL) Others of Interest: Alexander Semin, Riley Nash, Jay Harrison, Justin Shugg. No-Trade Clauses: Eric Staal, Jordan Staal, Tuomo Ruutu, John-Michael Liles, Mike Komisarek, Cam Ward. The Plan: Right on the edge of the playoff picture, the Hurricanes are too close to sell, so they could make a move to upgrade in the short-term while not surrendering future value because their crop of prospects isnt great. The Canes have an excess in goal, carrying three on their NHL roster now that Cam Ward is healthy, and that could lead to a minor deal, shipping out Justin Peters. If G Anton Khudobin continues to hold the crease, its also feasible that the Hurricanes might consider a new home for Ward, though that deal might be easier to orchestrate in the offseason. COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS UFA in 2014: Marian Gaborik, Derek MacKenzie, Blake Comeau, Nikita Nikitin, Curtis McElhinney. RFA in 2014: Ryan Johansen, Corey Tropp, David Savard.. Top Prospects: Tim Erixon, D, Springfield (AHL)Alexander Wennberg, LW, Frolunda (SEL)Kerby Rychel, LW, Guelph (OHL)Oscar Dansk, G, Erie (OHL)Oliver Bjorkstrand, RW, Portland (WHL) Others of Interest: Artem Anisimov, Mark Letestu, Cam Atkinson, Matt Calvert, Jack Johnson, Mike Reilly, Marko Dano. No-Trade Clauses: Marian Gaborik, Nathan Horton, R.J. Umberger, James Wisniewski (modified), Fedor Tyutin (modified). The Plan: The Blue Jackets are in the playoff picture and have been there largely without much contribution from RW Marian Gaborik, so they could use Gaborik -- a pending UFA -- as a trade chip, or simply add him back into the lineup for a scoring boost. The challenge, and its an enviable one, with adding Gaborik to the lineup is that the Blue Jackets have a relatively deep and balanced group up front. Ryan Johansen is their one emerging star, but the rest of their forwards can be moved up and down the depth chart and its worked well enough that maybe the Blue Jackets would be willing to part with Gaborik, but theyre also a team that doesnt have game-breaking scorers and, while that hasnt been Gaboriks effect this season (scoring five goals and 12 points in 18 games), he has that pedigree. Otherwise, there may be some interest in D Jack Johnson and, as some have noted, the Blue Jackets would do well to listen to any teams expressing serious interest. DETROIT RED WINGS UFA in 2014: Daniel Alfredsson, Mikael Samuelsson, Todd Bertuzzi, Dan Cleary, Patrick Eaves, Kyle Quincey, Jonas Gustavsson. RFA in 2014: Tomas Tatar, Luke Glendening, Danny DeKeyser. Top Prospects: Anthony Mantha, RW, Val dOr (QMJHL)Tomas Jurco, RW, Grand Rapids (AHL)Riley Sheahan, C, Grand Rapids (AHL)Teemu Pulkkinen, RW, Grand Rapids (AHL)Petr Mrazek, G, Grand Rapids (AHL) Others of Interest: Johan Franzen, Drew Miller, Jakub Kindl, Brendan Smith, Brian Lashoff, Calle Jarnkrok, Ryan Sproul, Xavier Ouellet. No-Trade Clauses: Pavel Datsyuk (partial), Stephen Weiss (modified), Daniel Alfredsson, Mikael Samuelsson, Todd Bertuzzi (modified), Danny Cleary, Niklas Kronwall, Jonathan Ericsson (modified), Jimmy Howard, Jonas Gustavsson (modified). The Plan: In a tough spot as it pertains to the playoff chase because leading scorer Henrik Zetterberg left the Olympics with a back injury and its been tough sledding through injuries for Detroit this season already. While injuries have contributed to the Red Wings struggles this year, they have also allowed the next generation of Red Wings forwards -- including Gustav Nyquist, Tomas Tatar, Tomas Jurco, Riley Sheahan -- to play. If theyre pushing for a playoff spot, the Wings always have assets that they can move for immediate help. FLORIDA PANTHERS UFA in 2014: Marcel Goc, Brad Boyes, Scott Gomez, Krystofer Barch, Jesse Winchester, Mike Weaver, Tom Gilbert, Mike Mottau, Ryan Whitney, Matt Gilroy, Tim Thomas, Scott Clemmensen. RFA in 2014: Jimmy Hayes, Dmitry Kulikov, Erik Gudbranson, Dylan Olsen. Top Prospects: Drew Shore, C, San Antonio (AHL)Alex Petrovic, D, San Antonio (AHL)Mike Matheson, D, Boston College (HE)Vincent Trocheck, C, San Antonio (AHL)Rocco Grimaldi, RW, North Dakota (WCHA) Others of Interest: Tomas Kopecky, Sean Bergenheim, Shawn Matthias, Jacob Markstrom, Kyle Rau, Quinton Howden, Colby Robak. No-Trade Clauses: Tomas Fleischmann (modified), Scottie Upshall (modified), Brian Campbell (limited), Tim Thomas. The Plan: There was a bit of a competitive stint after their terrible start, but the Panthers have fallen back again and are playing for next season. There are several veterans to shop heading towards the deadline and young players should get ample opportunity to play big minutes in the final quarter of the season. Perhaps the most interesting decision involves veteran D Tom Gilbert, a bargain free agent signing after he was bought out by Minnesota last year, who has had a fine year on the Panthers top pair, which would figure to make him appealing as a trade chip, but maybe hes been good enough that the Panthers would rather have Gilbert as part of their defensive core for the next few seasons too. MONTREAL CANADIENS UFA in 2014: Brian Gionta, George Parros, Andrei Markov, Francis Bouillon, Douglas Murray. RFA in 2014: Lars Eller, Dale Weise, Ryan White, P.K. Subban. Top Prospects: Nathan Beaulieu, D, Hamilton (AHL)Jarred Tinordi, D, Hamilton (AHL)Sven Andrighetto, RW, Hamilton (AHL)Sebastian Collberg, RW, Frolunda (SEL)Dalton Thrower, D, Vancouver (WHL) Others of Interest: David Desharnais, Michael Bournival, Michael McCarron, Christian Thomas, Jacob De La Rose. No-Trade Clauses: Tomas Plekanec (modified), Brian Gionta, Daniel Briere, Rene Bourque (modified), Travis Moen (modified), Andrei Markov (modified), Josh Gorges (limited). The Plan: The Canadiens are in playoff position, so theyre theoretically in the market to add, rather than subtract, but theyre also saddled with the likes of Daniel Briere and Rene Bourque who arent producing nearly enough to match their contracts. If the Canadiens are going to make noise this season, though, it may be a result of players like LW Alex Galchenyuk and D Alexei Emelin performing better as they come back from injuries. Emelin endured a rough start to the year, but was making progress prior to joining Team Russia for the Olympics and Galchenyuk, the second-year forward, has been productive enough, though he could get a few more minutes if the Habs are going to take advantage of his high-end skill. NEW JERSEY DEVILS UFA in 2014: Jaromir Jagr, Ryan Carter, Steve Bernier, Stephen Gionta, Marek Zidlicky, Mark Fayne, Martin Brodeur. RFA in 2014: Andrei Loktionov, Jacob Josefson. Top Prospects: Jon Merrill, D, Albany (AHL)Eric Gelinas, D, Albany (AHL)Damon Severson, D, Kelowna (WHL)Reid Boucher, LW, Albany (AHL)Stefan Matteau, RW, Albany (AHL) Others of Interest: Michael Ryder, Damien Brunner, Reece Scarlett, Raman Hrabarenka. No-Trade Clauses: Travis Zajac, Patrik Elias, Ryane Clowe, Dainius Zubrus, Anton Volchenkov, Marek Zidlicky, Martin Brodeur. The Plan: On the fringe of playoff contention, the Devils have some bodies to move if they decide to go that way. Jagr has resisted trade talk, which is fair enough since hes been a bit of nomad since returning to the league, but hes had such a strong season that a team seeking an offensive upgrade would have to consider him (how about finally joining Tomas Plekanec in Montreal?). Martin Brodeur says he hasnt contemplated a trade yet, but if the Devils are going to look ahead to the future, the guys on the north side of 40 dont have to be part of the plans. At the same time, if the Devils are going to move them, anything to upgrade the forward talent in the organization should be a priority. NEW YORK ISLANDERS UFA in 2014: Thomas Vanek, Eric Boulton, Radek Martinek, Andrew MacDonald, Evgeni Nabokov. RFA in 2014: Casey Cizikas, Calvin de Haan, Kevin Poulin. Top Prospects: Ryan Strome, C, Niagara (OHL)Griffin Reinhart, D, Edmonton (WHL)Ville Pokka, D, Karpat (SML)Ryan Pulock, D, Brandon (WHL)Matt Donovan, D, Bridgeport (AHL) Others of Interest: Josh Bailey, Michael Grabner, Matt Carkner, Brian Strait, Anders Lee, Johan Sundstrom, Scott Mayfield, Adam Pelech, Anders Nilsson. No-Trade Clauses: Lubomir Visnovsky. The Plan: The Islanders were already out of the playoff race before C John Tavares suffered a season-ending knee injury at the Olympics, but that makes their next moves all the more important as they try to ice a more competitive club in 2014-2015. Since the Islanders couldnt get LW Thomas Vanek to sign an extension, GM Garth Snow needs to attempt to recoup some of the value he sacrificed in acquiring Vanek from Buffalo early in the season. If D Andrew MacDonald isnt prepared to sign a team-friendly deal (and advanced stats suggest he should), then the Isles might as well deal him and add more assets for the future -- same as it ever was. NEW YORK RANGERS UFA in 2014: Ryan Callahan, Brian Boyle, Benoit Pouliot, Dominic Moore, Daniel Carcillo, Dan Girardi, Anton Stralman, Darroll Powe, Arron Asham. RFA in 2014: Derick Brassard, Mats Zuccarello, Chris Kreider, Justin Falk, John Moore. Top Prospects: J.T. Miller, RW, Hartford (AHL)Danny Kristo, RW, Hartford (AHL)Jesper Fast, RW, Hartford (AHL)Anthony Duclair, LW, Quebec (QMJHL)Dylan McIlrath, D, Hartford (AHL) Others of Interest: Derek Dorsett, Kevin Klein, Pavel Buchnevich. No-Trade Clauses: Rick Nash, Brad Richards. The Plan: The Rangers have gained ground after a slow start and have a team that can contend in the East. While RW Ryan Callahan and D Dan Girardi are notable unrestricted free agents, the Rangers are would have to get roster players in return since a playoff team cant justify dealing prominent players for no immediate help. OTTAWA SENATORS UFA in 2014: Milan Michalek, Matt Kassian, Chris Phillips, Joe Corvo. RFA in 2014: Cory Conacher, Stephane Da Costa, Eric Gryba, Robin Lehner. Top Prospects:Curtis Lazar, C, Edmonton (WHL)Mark Stone, RW, Binghamton (AHL)Matt Puempel, LW, Binghamton (AHL)Shane Prince, LW, Binghamton (AHL)Jean-Gabriel Pageau, C, Binghamton (AHL) Others of Interest: Erik Condra, Colin Greening, Jared Cowen, Patrick Wiercioch, Mark Borowiecki. No-Trade Clauses: Jason Spezza, Clarke MacArthur, Chris Neil (modified), Chris Phillips (limited). The Plan: On the outside looking in at the playoffs, the Senators might have the talent to push for a berth, and while they are open to adding a power forward to play alongside Jason Spezza, it appears that the Senators wouldnt take on significant money in any deal. That shouldnt preclude a rental, but it also may not preclude the Senators selling if they lose a couple coming out of the break. If the Senators are buyers, they have a solid farm team in Binghamton from which they could offer a prospect or two in order to find a winger that can improve their attack. PHILADELPHIA FLYERS UFA in 2014: Steve Downie, Adam Hall, Kimmo Timonen, Andrej Meszaros, Ray Emery. RFA in 2014: Brayden Schenn, Michael Raffl, Erik Gustafsson. Top Prospects: Scott Laughton, C, Oshawa (OHL)Mark Alt, D, Adirondack (AHL)Shayne Gostisbehere, D, Union (ECAC)Samuel Morin, D, Rimouski (QMJHL)Tye McGinn, LW, Adirondack (AHL) Others of Interest: Sean Couturier, Matt Read, Luke Schenn, Nick Cousins, Robert Hagg. No-Trade Clauses: Scott Hartnell, Vincent Lecavalier, Wayne Simmonds (modified), Kimmo Timonen, Braydon Coburn (modified), Nicklas Grossman (modified) The Plan: Like the Rangers, the Flyers are playing much better after a slow start; they have enough talent to make some noise, though blueline improvements wouldnt hurt. Philadelphia made their bed in goal with Steve Mason, and could live to regret it, but signing him to an extension likely precludes a notable change in that spot. PITTSBURGH PENGUINS UFA in 2014: Jussi Jokinen, Taylor Pyatt, Tanner Glass, Chuck Kobasew, Joe Vitale, Chris Conner, Brooks Orpik, Matt Niskanen, Deryk Engelland. RFA in 2014: Brandon Sutter, Jayson Megna. Top Prospects: Derrick Pouliot, D, Portland (WHL)Simon Despres, D, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL)Scott Harrington, D, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL)Brian Dumoulin, D, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL)Brian Gibbons, RW, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) Others of Interest: Beau Bennett, Brian Gibbons, Robert Bortuzzo, Josh Archibald. No-Trade Clauses: Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby, Pascal Dupuis (limited), Chris Kunitz (modified), Paul Martin (limited), Brooks Orpik (limited), Rob Scuderi (modified). The Plan: For a Stanley Cup contender, the Penguins do have some notable needs. The search for Sidney Crosbys right winger (in the absence of injured Pascal Dupuis) continues and Pittsburgh might want to add immediate help on the blueline as insurance for D Kris Letang, who recently suffered a stroke. Finding a winger to complement Crosby shouldnt be that difficult, but its become bit of meme that Crosby is so difficult to play with. Drop in someone like Matt Moulson and see if he likes pulling the trigger on Crosbys setups. TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING UFA in 2014: Tom Pyatt, Sami Salo, Brian Lee. RFA in 2014: Alex Killorn, J.T. Brown, Tyler Johnson, Ondrej Palat, Keith Aulie, Mark Barberio, Anders Lindback. Top Prospects: Jonathan Drouin, LW, Halifax (QMJHL)Andrey Vasilevskiy, G, Ufa Salavat Yulayev (KHL)Vladislav Namestnikov, C, Syracuse (AHL)Brett Connolly, RW, Syracuse (AHL)Slater Koekkoek, D, Windsor (OHL) Others of Interest: Nate Thompson, B.J. Crombeen, Richard Panik, Adam Erne, Andrej Sustr. The Plan: Tampa Bays big addition will be the return of C Steven Stamkos, but Lightning could go for help on defence if they are looking to capitalize on this season -- its not every year that you get the goaltending they are getting from Ben Bishop. One advantage that the Lightning have is that they have a well-stocked system, cultivated over the past few seasons, so they have some attractive assets to move, including forwards that havent been able to crack the Lightning lineup, if they go looking for immediate help. TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS UFA in 2014: David Bolland, Nikolai Kulemin, Jay McClement, Mason Raymond, Troy Bodie, Trevor Smith, Jerred Smithson, Paul Ranger. RFA in 2014: Peter Holland, Carter Ashton, Cody Franson, Jake Gardiner, James Reimer. Top Prospects:Matthew Finn, D, Guelph (OHL)Stuart Percy, D, Toronto (AHL)Josh Leivo, LW, Toronto (AHL)Andreas Johnson, C, Frolunda (SEL)Frederik Gauthier, C, Rimouski (QMJHL) Others of Interest: Frazer McLaren, Carl Gunnarsson, Tyler Biggs, Jerry DAmigo, Greg McKegg. No-Trade Clauses: Phil Kessel (limited), Joffrey Lupul (limited), David Clarkson (modified), Tyler Bozak (modified), Tim Gleason, Paul Ranger. The Plan: Sitting in a playoff spot after a great run leading up to the break (but also due, in part, to nine shootout wins) the Leafs anticipate getting David Bolland back from injury, and while they are surely happy with the results theyve been getting, the Leafs should never turn down the opportunity to improve their defence. For all the progress the Leafs have made in the standings, their possession numbers havent shown improvement, which means the team, as currently constructed, is going to need continued excellence from G Jonathan Bernier if theyre going to hold their playoff position. WASHINGTON CAPITALS UFA in 2014: Mikhail Grabovski, Tyson Strachan. RFA in 2014: Dmitry Orlov. Top Prospects: Evgeny Kuznetsov, RW, Chelyabinsk Traktor (KHL)Riley Barber, RW, Miami-Ohio (NCHC)Andre Burakovsky, LW, Erie (OHL)Philipp Grubauer, G, Hershey (AHL)Madison Bowey, D, Kelowna (WHL) Others of Interest: Joel Ward, Marcus Johansson, Jason Chimera, Eric Fehr, Jay Beagle, John Erskine, Connor Carrick, Nate Schmidt, Michal Neuvirth. No-Trade Clauses: Brooks Laich (limited), Martin Erat, Troy Brouwer (modified), Mikhail Grabovski, Mike Green (modified). The Plan: The Capitals havent played all that well this year, yet are still in the playoff mix if they can finish strong (thanks, in part, to a league-high 15 shootout results). Basically, they need someone other than Alexander Ovechkin to score and a goaltender that is able to take the reins and that could be enough to get into the postseason, but this isnt a good enough team to mortgage the future, either, so adding a veteran or two at minimal cost may be the plan of attack. * - Contract information comes from the wonderful www.capgeek.com. Jurrjens signed a minor league contract with Cincinnati in May, and was 2-3 with a 4.46 ERA at Triple-A Louisville. He has a 53-37 record with a 3.63 ERA in seven major league seasons, including five with Atlanta.NEW YORK -- In their previous game against New Orleans, the Brooklyn Nets pulled off an impressive feat: They were able to win even though all their starters were held to single digits in points. Against the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday night, the Nets found the 10-point plateau a little easier to clear. Five players scored in double figures for the Nets as they easily defeated Charlotte 105-89 at Barclays Center. Paul Pierce led the way with 25 points for Brooklyn, including 5-for-5 shooting from 3-point range. Deron Williams added 13 points and seven assists, and Andre Blatche scored 13 off the bench. Brooklyn was 13 of 31 from beyond the arc. The Nets were consistently able to use dribble penetration and solid ball movement to find the open man. And when they got open looks, they took advantage. Pierce said ball movement has been the difference in his teams resurgence of late, and it was largely responsible for his big night against the Bobcats. "When we make the extra pass, the ball is eventually going to find the open man," Pierce said. "Ive been a product of that as of late, and Im knocking down shots right now." Nets coach Jason Kidd agreed that ball movement was critical to his clubs success, but thought its defensive play in limiting Al Jefferson to 12 points was equally crucial. "It all started on the defensive end," Kidd said. "Getting stops and then being able to take advantage. ... We wanted to double-team (Jefferson) a little bit early to not let him get in a rhythm. The guys executed the game plan." Kemba Walker led the Bobcats with 16 points. Jefferson, who scored at least 26 in each of his previous three games, was held to 5-for-13 shooting. With the win, the Nets improved to 14-5 this calendar year. Pierce believes that as good as things have been for Brooklyn lately, the Nets have the potential to get even better as they get more comfortable with each other. "Weve developed some chemistry since the new year. I mean, you can tell by the way weve moved the ball, the way were defending. Everybody seems to be on the same page. And when you have that type of chemistry, and that type of talent, were going to be a tough team to beat when we put it together," he said. Brooklyn went on a 15-3 run to open the third quarter, extending its lead to 17, and never looked back. The lopsided margin of victory afforded Kidd the opportunity to rest his starterrs for much of the fourth quarter. Authentic Omri Casspi Jersey. With a quick turnaround Thursday night against Chicago to close out the first-half schedule, Kidd recognized the importance of being able to get his key players a breather. "A veteran ballclub understands that the games right before the break are important because youre planning vacations, or planning to go to All-Star weekend, and sometimes the game becomes secondary," he said. "A lot of the guys, for the most part, didnt play a lot of minutes, so well see what happens tomorrow." Charlotte got off to a solid start offensively in its final game before the All-Star break. But the Bobcats struggled mightily after that, putting up a meagre 34 points combined in the second and third quarters. Bobcats coach Steve Clifford thought the fact that his club only turned the ball over 10 times was somewhat misleading. He thought his team was listless, and made a number of unforced errors that cost it a chance to win. "You have to play with more discipline," Clifford said. "When the chance is there to make a play, you have to make it. I thought our turnovers were just terrible." The Bobcats defeated Dallas at home Tuesday, but Jefferson didnt think the loss could be chalked up to fatigue. "They were ready and we werent," he said. "We cant just have excuses because we played last night. Thats the NBA; we have to be ready to play these types of games, especially to be a playoff team." The Bobcats have lost their last nine games when finishing off a back-to-back. Clifford understands that needs to change if his squad is going to contend for a playoff spot. "The bottom line is we have to be able to play better in these games," Clifford said. "The second night of back-to-backs earlier in the year, we were better. The last few times back-to-backs, weve been inconsistent." The Bobcats will be have a chance to reverse the trend right away when they open the second half with a back-to-back against the Detroit Pistons starting next Tuesday. NOTES: Pierce scored 14 of his 25 points in the third. ... The Nets have won four straight at Barclays Center, and 11 of their last 13. ... One night after posting a season-high 54.9 field goal percentage, Charlotte managed only 41.4 per cent from the floor. ... The Nets will play their next seven games on the road, starting with a national TV date against Chicago on Thursday night. cheap falcons jerseys cheap ravens jerseys cheap bills jerseys cheap bears jerseys cheap bengals jerseys cheap cowboys jerseys cheap lions jerseys cheap texans jerseys cheap colts jerseys cheap jaguars jerseys cheap chiefs jerseys cheap rams jerseys cheap dolphins jerseys cheap vikings jerseyscheap saints jerseys cheap giants jerseys cheap jets jerseys cheap eagles jerseys cheap steelers jerseys cheap 49ers jerseys ' ' '

    • CHICAGO - Chicago Cubs great Ernie Banks died after a heart attack, an attorney representing the Hall of Famers family said Sunday. Jordan Clarkson Jersey .With Banks widow standing nearby at a news conference at a downtown hotel, Mark Bogen said Banks had the heart attack Friday in Chicago and died later that day. He did not provide any other details.I want you to know that he was very beloved and he is going to be dearly missed by family, friends and all his fans, Liz Banks said. The Cubs and Mayor Rahm Emanuels office announced that the statue of Banks that has stood outside Wrigley Field since 2008 will be placed in Chicagos Daley Plaza this week, remaining there from Wednesday morning through Saturday. The statue has long been a popular spot for fans to take photographs and after Banks death many went to the ballpark to put flowers near it only to discover that the statue had been removed recently during the Wrigley field renovation project. In news release, Emanuel and Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts said placing the statue at Daley Plaza was a fitting way to allow fans to pay their respects. We are bringing the statue to Daley Plaza to honour not just one of the best ballplayers of all time, but a great man who made our city proud from the day we first met him in 1953 when Banks broke into the major leagues, the mayor said.Bogen said the family is still planning a funeral and that details would soon be released.Banks spent his entire 19-year career with the Cubs. He hit 512 home runs, was twice voted the National Leagues Most Valuable Player, and was elected to the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. He was the teams first black player and is still considered the greatest Cubs player by many and the clubs most beloved player. That has been evident in the days since Banks death. In tribute after tribute, people from around the city and the nation have praised Banks not just for his play, but for his remarkably sunny disposition during his career and in the years since he retired.Ernie Banks was a great player and an even better person, Ricketts said in a statement. He was a kind gentle man who loved his fans as much as they loved him. Terrell Brandon Jersey . Kelli Stack and Alex Carpenter also scored for the Americans, who avoided a repeat of Finlands upset at the Four Nations Cup in Lake Placid, N.Y., in November. Finnish goalie Noora Raty made 58 saves in that one, but the three-time Olympian could stop just 40 of 43 U. Ante Zizic Jersey . When the next inning rolled around Wednesday, though, Nationals manager Matt Williams sent Strasburg to the mound to face the top of the Dodgers order in what would become a 3-2 victory for Washington, the first time this season the No.ATLANTA - Freddie Freeman had three hits, including a homer, and the Atlanta Braves beat Washington 6-3 on Saturday night to continue their early success against the Nationals. B.J. Upton had two hits, including his first homer, and Dan Uggla drove in two runs with two hits for Atlanta. After winning two of three at Washington in the opening week, the Braves have won the first two games of a weekend home series against their NL East rivals. Braves left-hander Alex Wood (2-1) allowed one run on six hits and three walks in five innings. Craig Kimbrel pitched the ninth for his fifth save. Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman left the game with an apparent right thumb injury. Washington placed Denard Span on the seven-day disabled list with a concussion before the game. Upton, who began the night hitting .135, and Uggla, batting .162, finally got untracked. Justin Upton had three hits, including two doubles, to extend his tear at the plate. Evan Gattis also had three hits. Washington starter Taylor Jordan (0-1) allowed five runs on 10 hits and two walks in five innings. Anthony Rendon hit his second homer leading off the game. Zimmerman was hurt diving back to the bag when he was picked off second base in the fifth. The Nationals provided no immediate update on his status. Span had headaches following a collision on the basepath with Uggla on Friday night. Right fielder Jayson Werth, who left Friday nights game with cramping in his groin, did not start. He had a pinch-hit infield single in the eighth following Sandy Leons run-scoring single. Freemans throwing error on Werths hit left runners at first and third, but Rendons fly to centre ended thee inning. Channing Frye Jersey. . Washingtons makeshift outfield included Bryce Harper in centre, Kevin Frandsen in left and Nate McLouth in right. Nationals manager Matt Williams used his replay challenge in the second inning after McLouth, credited with a sacrifice bunt, was called out at first base. The call by umpire Angel Hernandez stood following a video review. Williams could have used his challenge two innings later when replays indicated first baseman Adam LaRoche snagged a liner by Freeman as Jason Heyward advanced from first to second. LaRoche stepped on the bag for an apparent double play, but the umpires huddled — with Williams standing a few feet away — and ruled the ball hit the ground before the catch was made. McLouth was involved in another questionable call in the fifth when he dropped a flyball hit by Andrelton Simmons. Replays indicated McLouth made the catch and was transferring the ball to his glove when it fell to the ground, but Hernandez ruled it was not a catch. The call left the bases loaded, but Jordan escaped by striking out pinch-hitter Ryan Doumit and Heyward. Right-hander Blake Treinen, called up from Triple-A Syracuse before the game, pitched two scoreless innings in his major league debut.
